political desperation by a failing government in the death throes, and a department 'not fit for purpose', according to its own minister. disgraceful.

well Smeg, it is always nice to be able to quote some case that makes the UK such a nice place to be

but then others crawl out of the woodwork, and then have the cheek to quote cases that make the Uk a shite place

    what are we to do!!?

maybe not base all our beliefs on single cases and look at the whole picture? Too difficult? oh well, never mind, it is just that governments and people all over the world break the law, or have the law used against them for all sorts of wrong reasons. Sad eh?

Paying some attention first to their own pathetic excuse for a democracy is advised.

Thailand s not a democracy, neither is the UK.
They are pretty similar - both constitutional monarchies.

^ You write that in the style of being a fact rather than your opinion

    Some knowledge for you:

In representative democracies that are constitutional monarchies, like the United Kingdom, the monarch may be regarded as the head of state but the prime minister, whose power derives directly or indirectly from elections, is head of government.
Although current constitutional monarchies are mostly representative democracies, this has not always historically been the case.

The quality is inconsistent, which is to be expected in a project like wikipedia. You need to use your own judgement to assess how useful a particular piece is.

More often than not, I found it to be very useful for getting an overview of a subject, with further links.

i think you may have misunderstood on two grounds: firstly, it was not her, but I, who called the uk government disgraceful; secondly, having been born, raised, educated, lived and worked in london until i was fortunate to travel to various places in the world in my mid-twenties, and still a uk taxpayer, i think i'm just as entitled to my view as is an ex-pat who badmouths his hosts and harks back to the wonderful old country he left behind.

Well, to answer the OP, if I was going to be deported (and I'd done nothing worng) the I guess there may be a few hundred or so people who would try and help me or would want to help me stay - whether they'd be effective is another thing, but I'm sure they'd try
