Indeed it is a myth. The US were extremely embarassed that no other country gave a fook about their game.

Baseball has spread throughout the world, particularly in Asia. At one time the US dominated the baseball world. Not so anymore. The "World Series" played in the US no longer represents the world's best teams.

The World Baseball Classic is where the best teams in the world are determined. Japan won this year. The US didn't make it to the finals where Japan took on Korea.

^Yes, so it would seem the name of the World Series needs to be changed to make it clear that it is not the best teams in the world competing.

Or conversely have more non US teams in Major League Baseball. I believe the NFL, America's football league, is trying to establish some teams in Europe?

Doesn't quite work like that, as England found out when the football World Cup started.

What did England try to do. Expand the English league?

When the World cup started, England thought they were bigger than it and decided not to join in with a bunch of Johnny Foreigners, cos we invented the game and all that.

Agree, it would likely evolve to an international governing body of some type.

Or maybe after all this time they could get another sponsor? Maybe the bud light series?? Sounds so much more apt.

It does piss me off though, when people refer to darts as a sport.

    So now you've learned something.

I too, have heard the old adage; "There is no such thing as a stupid question." Like many old adages; that one is wrong. <-(smiley inserted).

This thread is all a bit of a piss-take <-(non-yank term in the interest of cross-cultural understanding). "It's all in fun" right? The whole fucking subject is "TIC," to think otherwise would be ridiculous. Your 'question' was bullshit, the above response an even higher level of bullshit.

Completely devoid of humor, bordering on bigoted, the statement phrased as a question was an interruption, the "sad admission" comment (coupled with that "of which I'm not sure" throw away) a common ploy of a pedantic shit-stirrer. You just had to put your two cents in, didn't you? So you've had your say, you've 'asked your question.'

No one asked you to be "ashamed," but the so-called question was a piece of shit.

Let's take it even one step further: At thirteen fuckin years old just what the fuck were you aware of? World hunger? The Vietnam war? The plight of the Burmese? That Thailand even existed? Doubtful. Hormones raging, Girls began to figure into your life; not getting a hard on just before the end of class bell rang was probably quite high on your "things to worry about" list, Pimples, wet dreams, and so on.

Now let's look at my statement once again:
Hell, I never knew there was another country until the beatles came along.
Slight, rather OBVIOUS exaggeration, ya think?
So you ask some shit question, (you really should be ashamed, you know). Based on THAT?? you get stick for the stupid question and reply with "whatever, blah, blah..."

My attempt at humor may have been a poor one. But it certainly was obvious. That you felt a need to ask such a "question" leads me to believe that you either lack perception or were just stirring shit. Previously, I had more respect for your intelligence to believe the former so I reacted to the latter. My apologies, I will not over-estimate you again.

Gee, that was fun, let's do this again sometime
