Question The Day of Reckoning What do you think?

Sadly with tear gas troops and sporadic gunfire near Victory monument it appears it is turning from words to action. During power outage I hope it is New Year's fireworks I hear. We all know the history What do you think will happen please. I am genuinely concerned, not idle chat,Is it time to pack abag empty bank account etc. For those with experience of coups will cash petrol telephones rn out , Anyone at swampy is there a stampede to leave while airport open and tickets available. What does a stste of emergency mean in Law in practice? If someone knows how to host a poll I guess the options include 1 Coup d'Etat 2 Yellow result crackdown by present regime 3 Red revival and/or return of Taxsin to lead the nation 4 Muddle along with faces changes but no reconciliation or resolution 5 None of the above I wish all a safe and peaceful holidays

    VIVA REVOLUTION!

Poor man`s anger rising. The ostrich hides his head.
Soon the red blood will be boiling. And blue blood will be dead.
    While we say.
Little by little by little,And stone by stone.

Rich man`s mountain comes crumbling down

Poor boy sleeps on straw,The rich boy sleeps in bed.

That fat boy fills his belly,My poor boys`s a dead,
    While we say.
Little by little by little,And stone by stone.

Rich man`s mountain comes crumbling down.

The rich man drives his car past,The poor man on bare feet.

For that rich man do get what he wants, the poor must know defeat,
    While we say.
Little by little by little,And stone by stone.

Rich man`s mountain comes crumbling down.

Here in Korea the wife has been watching the protest rallies closely on the net as of course she is Thai and from Khon Kaen. The cameras went at about 5:00 Thai time this morning. Sound of gunfire could be heard as the feed ended. It would seem the main rally has broken up for the time being.

Yeah. I don't know either. Just know the internet feed went this morning at the Gov house rally I assume. It's fucked up, I could tell the wife was upset about it. I really hate this never ending BS that is the present state of Thai politics.

With the elite dictatorship using lethal military force, the people dont stand a chance. 18 military coups and murderous asaults over the past several decades prove that.

However the poor oppressed Thais are gradually becoming more educated and more informed.
My guess is that the elites will manage to subdue the masses again this time, well at least for the time being anyway.
But unless Thailand goes the way of Burma with an unashamed brutal military dictatorship the time is approaching that a peoples revolution will occur in Thailand some time down the road. That could be a decade or two away just yet.
The elite ruling class minority have control of the military, the judiciary and this government. Thats a heck of a bunch of obstacles to overcome for a few thousand protesters (or even tens of thousands) facing tanks and soldiers with automatic weapons.

Maybe not this time, but the revolution is coming. And it may not come in violent confrontation. There is always hope that if a democratic government can eventually be elected they will put systems in place to erode the power base of elite dictators and bring forth a fairer, more honest democratic system of government.

so what's the opinion on long term (negative) affect to thailand and the world's view of thailand? as of 4am CNN has been reporting on 2 stories only; the pirate situation in somalia and the unrest here in bkk.

we're are quite close to it and tend to see it in a more complacent light IMO. i've received calls from family overseas terrified that bkk is a war zone. their perception of the situation is horribly grim as they see images of cars burning, people laying wounded and troops marching in.

so.....how badly wil this hurt the local economy and international opinion of this place?
i mean, i know it will be bad but want to hear some thoughts from anyone with knowledge on this economy and where it will be in a few weeks, months, years.

"All of them, all those who can’t adapt – you and I, for instance – will die cursing the power which they helped bring about with often enormous sacrifices. Revolution is impersonal, so it will take their lives and even use their memory as an example or as an instrument to control the young people coming after them…you will die with your fist clenched and your jaw tense, the perfect manifestation of hatred and struggle, because you aren’t a symbol (some inanimate example), you are an authentic member of the society to be destroyed; the spirit of the beehive speaks through your mouth and moves through your actions. You are as useful as I am, but you don’t realize how useful your contribution is to the society that sacrifices you."

nteresting comments esp watterinja I think looking at Munich Zoo and CNN its a BEAR market Heres the latest off the wires In Chiang Mai, about 3,000 red shirt protesters led by the Rak Chiang Mai 51 group blocked the main road linking Chiang Mai and Lamphun province. In Chiang Rai's Muang district, about 500 protesters blocked traffic at Mae Korn intersection, barring vehicles from entering or leaving Chiang Rai. In Lampang, about 200 protesters blocked the Lampang-Phrae road in front of Lampang city hall, paralysing traffic. In Phitsanulok, protesters surrounded the province's city hall. In the northeastern province of Udon Thani, the stronghold of another red shirt leader, Kwanchai Phraiphana, about 2,500 red shirt protesters rallied in front of the province's city hall.
