Isn't the surprise a suitable enough gift?

It never came to my mind that I should bring a gift. Though you have to keep in mind that there are few more unromantic than me. She married me anyway.

Why will he have to pick up the tab?

Just saw she is an accountant and as I know that stingy folks (being one myself) you may have a point.

Even better, sod the surprise and the gift. Arrive a day early and spend the money on a couple of whores.

I know a few married guys who always lied about their return date to Thailand and spent a week or so having fun

    Never heard of that brand.

The blender was a Kitchen Aid. Hope that makes a difference.

    Jeeze, you guys!!!

Romance is perfume, jewellery, sexy underwear, a 1st edition of her favourite book, a burned CD of all her favourite songs, theatre/cinema tickets to see something she'll love but you'll hate, a print of her favourite picture (I'm assuming a real Van Gogh or Monet is out of the question).

Kitchen or garden appliances? Even if she is a real cook or gardener, they're not exactly romantic...

    Sexy underwear sounds good.

But I am not so sure it will help if I burn her favourite cd.

If you put it that way, probably not. Go with the undies. Or even just a helium balloon with 'I love you' on it - presented for no reason at all.

The day that happens monkey boy, is the day I check in to a 5 star resort, order a bottle of top notch Champers on room service, run myself a nice hot bubble bath & slit my wrists. Suffice it to say - it's never going to happen...
