    I agree, but I can't define it.

Also, I see people eat the cup of noodles (the bigger bowls) for dinner. Literally dinner.

    As a meal.

Pot Noodles used to be the business, but they have tried to make them more 'healthy' by taking out all the shit that made them taste good.

    What brand does this?

I assume that these fast food noodles are loaded with MSG, too.

    Shamelessly stolen from another forum:

    NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURS OR PRESERVATIVES.
    SOURCE OF FIBRE.
NOODLES IN A SPICY CURRY FLAVOUR SAUCE
WITHTEXTURISED SOYA PIECES, DRIED VEGTABLES AND A SACHET OF VERY HOT SAUCE

    NUTRITION INFORMATION

Typical values as prepared per 100g
    ENERGY 530/kJ/126kcal 1591kJ/378kcal
    PROTEIN 3.0g 9.1g
    CARBOHYDRATE 16.9g 50.6g
    of which SUGARS 1.3g 3.9g
    FAT 5.2g 15.6g
    of which SATURATES 2.4g 7.2g
    FIBRE 1.1g 3.3g
    SODIUM 0.5g 1.5g

    90g
*Pack makes upto 300g after preparation with water.
    CONTAINS DRIED INGREDIENTS

    INGREDIENTS (after preperation)

Noodles (49%) [wheat flour, vegtable oil, salt], water, vegtable in variable proportions (3.1%) [sweetcorn, peas, chives, Wheat flour, milk, maltodextrin, textured soya peices, (2.5%) Garlic, Yeast Extract, flavour Enhancer (monosodium Glutamate) Salt, Ground spices, flavourings, Onion, Oat fibre, Sugar, vegtable oil, malt extract, herb. Sachet: Hot Sauce (2%) [water, Spirit vinegar, salt, spices, starch]

there you go, the nutritional information of a pot noodle, on a par with a cardboard box. it contains a hell of a lot of salt and notice that the ingredients that are mentioned only add upto 56.6% so i wonder what the rest of the ingredients are.

No wonder you're having trouble sleeping. That shit is loaded with MSG which will wack you out in all sorts of ways.
Drink a glass of hot milk instead. Flavor the milk with a cardamon seed pod.

I do wonder where the bad name of MSG comes from. It is essential for the functioning of the human body and is made by the human body in large quantities every day.

I found that mentioned in the german wikipedia. But that fact is missing on the english wikipedia.

That so called China Restaurant Syndrome was not caused by MSG but by other components of the food containing Histamine.

MSG is an important part of Soy Sauce, Fish sauce, tomatoes and lots of other foodstuff.

^ Sorry, MSG is the only thing to give me 2am wake-up monstrous headaches. If it's something else, let me know. Packaged MSG is way different from the natural form.

^And Jpn and Chinese. If the food is loaded with Ajinomoto's lovely salt alternative, I can often smell it. Then, I don't eat.

I don't think one can be allergic to a substance the own body produces in quantities far exceeding the amounts taken in with food.

MSG is not something very complex like some vitamins. So there would not be a difference. You must be reacting to something else that you take in with the MSG. As I mentioned many food items where MSG is used comes also with Histamines which can induce allergy like symptomes even to not allergic persons.

By the way it is produced in bio reactors using bacteria or fungi and then extracted. So it is not really a chemical product.

When I get lazy and don’t want to either prepare anything for myself, eat leftovers or I am in a rush,…..a few times a year I guess. Preparing a small salad is just as easy as heating up water and waiting for the noodles to soften up and better for me. So I will usually go for a salad on lazy days/evenings.

    To add something on topic:

I don't buy those cups. I don't like eating out of those plastic containers and I believe they are way overpriced here at more than one Euro.

I sometimes eat asian noodles out of those small rectangular packs with several sachets of spices. Usually I add some tomatoes and some canned Tuna. That doesn't make them quality food but it tastes nice and makes them almost a complete meal.

So I vote one time a week even if it is not really cup noodles.

    Wow, that's expensive.

I pay about 18 cents, USD, for one cup.
