Thread: Self Righteous Bar Owners Crying

Who else gets sick and tired of hearing bar owners crying because high season was not so good, and the future of Thailand and Pattaya are not looking good?

Who gives a crap? Bar owners come and go. Go cry to someone else! Sell the gaff, so I can get on getting to know the new idiot that is stupid enough to open a bar in Thailand.

As an expat, I do not feel one bit sorry for bar owners. I have seen thousands come and go over the past 8 years. And you know what? The world must be full of stupid people, because a new guy is always there to buy up the bar that just went broke.

There will always be a place for me, as an expat, to get a beer and whore. I could care less who owns the gaff!!!!!!

I feel for some of the better bar owners that have been royally screwed over during some busy sporting weekends up this way with the non sale of alcohol

3 weekends in a row hurt them badly.

^It seemed the same when Toxin was in power - one dry weekend after the other. No good for bar owners - very good for the shops that take advantage of it, and continue selling alcohol - bladdy boring for the tourists..

I imagine the owners of Whats up & Heavens above, aren't doing too much crying. The bars that have a Competitive edge do all right but the old "I sell beer and pussy" bars won't in tough times. I really don't give a toss anyway, being that I am a good family man these days. Too old to fvck anyway.

Thaksin wanted to turn Thailand in Singapore. Boring as hell and extremely expensive. Judging by the round of inflation he set off he succeeded on the second part.

Thaksin was/is a knut.

I must admit the constant bleating from bar owners does get a bit much, especially in Pattaya. Not that the government makes it any easier for them, granted. They lost three weekends trade out of last December/ January high season.

There are just too many same/ same beer bars here. Some Thai owned ones do OK by selling cheap beer and working on volume. The rest have to share basically a dwindling market, and rising costs, between them. The growth in Pattaya tourism is from Chinese and Korean package tourists, and Russians. You rarely see them in beer bars.

Those that do well either put on something different, e.g. Blues Factory or good restaurants such as Mata Hari, or do a professional job of what they do e.g Angelwitch GoGo. Plus some longer established places attract a following. The days when you can open any old beer bar in Pattaya and expect a living from it are gone. Some do surprisingly well (about 50/50 between Thai and falang owned), I suspect the majority are barely getting by, or struggling.

I give two shits about the great businessmen who open bars in Thailand.

I tend to agree with you. Bar owner or TEFL'r? I am sure that would be a pretty hard decision for some of the whores in Thailand. I doubt any respectable Thai ladies outside the p4p scene would have anything to do with either of them.

No, unfortunately, my wife hasn't left me. I wish she would hurry up before I get too old to catch me a nice young looking bird.

My point being, why do bar owners think us customer give a squirt of piss about how their business is doing? I could care less. I drink where it's the cheapest, or where the quality of the bar and it's atmosphere justify a more expensive price for my drinks. It has nothing to do with who owns the gaff. Like I said previously, there are more than one moron waiting to replace them all and go broke just the same.
