Anyone know how to use a fridge?

Took some baht out of mothball and bought a fridge recently and it has a dial that goes from min through med and on to max...now, does min mean min temp (coolest) or min power (warmest)?

Forget the manual, it's Thai like the fridge and shows a hand holding the dial at all three main positions with blurbs saying 'min', 'med', and 'max' respectively...plan B, some derogative remark about monkeys and handed it all over to mrs k who couldn't understand what was confusing me because min must mean min temp but humoured me with several minutes of comparison and contemplation during which she realised that min could also mean min power...eventually seems she found what she was looking for in the manual and said with absolute confidence that min does indeed mean min temp (coolest), which brought a sigh of relief as it resolved my quest, if only she didn't as an afterthought repeat the performance and confess that min could also mean min power (warmest)...any nerds out there? - would be nice to know how to use a fridge!

I would think that MIN is warmest and MAX means max cooling.
pobly min is anti-clockwise side and turn clockwise to max. Thats what both ours is anyway.

I have three. Two Thai, one Jap. All three max means -- max cooling.
How tough is a low-grade science experiment?

thin dish of water on min, two hours.
new thin dish of water on max, two hours.
    which one gets kenger?

Loved arriving in foreign countries on very low notice and have to figure shit like this out.
Elec amps (find the least valuable leccy and plug 'er in, see if it smokes)
Air con, search the room for the thermostat, many times ain't one.
TV remote -- in Thai switching the channel sometimes turns it on.
Hot water switches, fcuk knows where they hide them.

    any nerds out there?
Go buy ice before your beer gets warm.

Keda, is you missus small? If she is, take all the shelves out of the fridge and get her to sit inside for 10 minutes on each setting.
For extra fun, find a tight t-shirt for her to wear during the testing

Damn, forgot to mention it was in the freezer not the fridge but midnight discovery that the fridge has one too...sorry lads, I thought max does mean coldest but doesn't have to does it so best to be sure and anyway past fridges have just sort of worked without demanding any input from me.

Right, smitten by Tex's farang logic and thin plate's heading for the freezer anon.

    You think I didn't?

Once decided on the purchase, I had both the mrs and the sales guy on the ropes at the shop last week by offering to buy it if he could prove that the light goes off when the door shuts because after all that's a lot of electrikery if it stays on 24/7...was just joking of course, but when it looked like they were taking it serious I stepped up a notch by going off on a rant about how nothing works as it should in Thailand and of course they'll tell me anything just to sell it but once I get it home they're gonna bugger me around to fix it...then tried to persuade her (40kg) to get in to test it...had them both going for a few minutes, but called it a day when she came close to tears.

    Don't you just luv 'em?

He obviously wasn't on commission for that brand. If so, He'd offer up 'is grandma and cousins as proto-test buckets of ice cream.

The cnut selling me water pumps at Global House today continually "led" me to Hitachi. As I was just looking, I saw his game and purposely kept talking up the Mitsubishis. I was waiting for an anyuerism right there on asile seven.

Right, now my ice is gone.

The first batch we made disappeared not long after I unloaded it into the box, mrs said she never touched it but I know she did because I didn't so she must have...anyway didn't make a song and dance about it, just unloaded again and refilled the trays and kept an eye on her so she really didn't touch them this time, but the ice in the trays has reduced to about half size and all that's left in the box is a few pellets.

Don't they make plug and play fridges?

Sounds like you have it too cold; freezer is dehumidyfying the icecubes. Get a closable icecube tray/container.

Don't forget to put an open box of Baking Soda in the fridge to absorb odors.

And you do know about "freezer burn", right?

Thanks, will get a new container and organise some baking soda.

Not sure of freezer burn because never experienced it, but will check with mrs because when things go wrong in the kitchen it's usually her in the front line.

"freezer burn" is not something a person will get, so don't worry about Mrs. K!

It is what happens to meat/veggies that are not sealed airtight when exposed to subzero temps. Essentially, the moisture is drawn out, and the meat gets dry and hard, discolored and off-taste.

On a tangent, just because you now have a ready source of icecubes, don't get carried away using them during your frolics. A little bit of ice in the mouth is fun, insertion is definately a no-no!
