She will be back shaking her tits in the bar soon enough, waiting for another foreign white knight in shining armor with 'GUM' tattooed on his forehead to 'rescue' her.

HE HAD A LUCKY ESCAPE, MAKE NO BONES ABOUT THIS.

He was a Danish king, and you are right, he was king of part of England (the place hadn't been united then).
The interesting thing is the story about him trying to stop the tide.
Actually, he was sick and tired of his sycophantic courtiers, so as an object lesson to them, that he was not in fact all powerful, he demanded that the tide not come in. A wise man and not the looney he is made out to be.

He gave me a list of how much he had spent and wanted to know if he was out of line. The following is in US dollars.

3 flights to Thailand the last 14 months - $6000.00
Money spent on hotels, travel and food on the three trips - $5000.00
VISA lawyers and governement fees for fiancee VISA - $5000.00
Money he has sent her over the last 14 months - $4000.00
Paid her debts off - $3000.00
    Sin sot - $2,500.00
Her one way plane ticket to his country - $2000.00
    Various wedding expenses - $2500.00
Gold necklace, bracelet, and ring for the engagemet $1000.00

    $30,000.00 total.

She had told him that her mama and papa would cover the cost of the wedding party etc. However, when he arrived she hit him up for more money.

He paid for invitations, wedding food and booze, some of her moms debt on a motorbike, her wedding dress, his wedding suit and the cost of a photograher. The total for this was about $3000.00.

So the total was up to $33,0000 and then she hits him up for the gold. He said no, she pouted and was quiet for 2 weeks and then called the wedding off and went back to mama and papa.

When I left him, he was headed to the Walking Street.................

This is another story of a goose that lays golden eggs. The lady was not happy because he did not lay a lot of golden eggs every day. She got upset and killed the goose. Now she will not get anymore eggs.
    Oh dear what a mug.

Thats 9,405 baht per month, which is roughly the same amount that will make any bar girl and her mates roll around on the floor laughing their tits off for about 48 hours

Everything below this is added as an edit.

9405 baht per month is more than most young thais with a bachelor degree earn working a 6 day week, so in reality she should be most grateful. However, some of these thai ****s are the most ungrateful pieces of shit i have ever come across, One of the most disapointing aspects of living here is that we should be handing out free money like we got our own printing press or something.

What I find so sad about these stories isn't the fact that another farang has been played for a sucker, but that thais are totally incapable of improving their lot in life. This stupid tart had an opportunity here to get an education, learn a trade, start a business etc. But all she wants is cash today to show off to her hooker friends, sell and hand over most of the loot (I suspect) to her family, not because they need it, but because it gives her more "status". You can drag a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

The second you stop pumping money into their lives they revert to type. Education here for most means nothing more than "status" and a piece of paper on the wall.

They're children. Some are spoiled, some are engaging, but whatever their age they still act like kids. They're just not in control of their lives. The stupid little foks still haven't worked out that they might be able to do something for themselves without someone giving it to them on a plate or being "lucky".

Fortunately, it's not all bad. They've generally got good teeth and fcuk like bunnies. Food's not bad either.

    Ouch.

Another Western loser that had to buy a wife.

But this loser, couldn't even buy a wife.

    Fake hubby, fake wife.

^ Not a loser at all. He dated a lot of pretty women back home, has a good job, nice house, a BMW, money in the bank and travels all over the world.

    He was smitten by her.......

Bit harsh isn't it? Isn't it possible that he was just naive & gullible? Yes, he gave her a lot, but I would guess that it's easy to get sucked in to the idea that it's expected, culturally. He wasn't a resident here, so might tend to believe anything she or her friends or family told him.

In many books/forums/whatever they bang on about how you're 'expected' to take care of the extended family & sin sot is almost universally expected here in Thailand. I guess if you know those facts, it could be easy to get suckered in for a lot more.

I don't know either of those involved, but I don't see how he 'had to buy a wife'. Maybe he just thought he was being a good guy & giving his fiancee everything she could want.

    This is all irrelevant.

    He's a loser, IMO.

Spot on NR. He is a good guy all the way around. Tried to buy all of our meals, pay for all of our gas and wanted to cover our hotel bills the whole time we spent with him. He is a nice guy plain and simple.

Then surely it was a small price to pay for a wife.

How much do weddings in the west cost these days?

When a marriage is set to happen in Isaan and the lady does a runner i think it is common practice that her family has to pay double whatever has been paid back to the bloke's family.

I don't think it is law, but I think the police will help to enforce it.

My wife just confirmed that what you say is correct. Apparently a man may also claim compensation from the brides family if she doesn't do the business on the wedding night.

Maybe it is his way of showing love. Or maybe the ones people that he has come to know in life respond to receiving gifts. He likes to give and he has surrounded himself with receivers. He has a need to do it and so do they.

He'll be popular in Thailand then. Damn they'll juice him dry within a year

Please do try and wise him up a little. Clearly this girl is a greedy tramp and needs to be jettisoned back to whence she came from. Problem is, finding a girl that does not know about the routine demands that are to be placed on farangs is not going to happen on walking street.
Get him out of Pattaya and into the real Thailand where he can meet girls whose heads are not full of shitty money making plans and designs.
