Emmet Brown invented the time machine.
Richard Branston, Rolf Harris and Slimboyfat.
I admire people with silly beards.
I don't know the salary or benefits of Branson's workers, but I applaud him on that statement. I abhor unions. I refused to join one when I was 17 and worked when it went on strike. FO. I gotta make money. To me, unions are just bullies that rape companies of their earnings.

I don't admire bald people, hence Phil Collins, Eroll Brown and KW are not on my list.

^ nah, she was the chick with the big handbag.
I'm one of the world's tree-hugging liberals, but if I hadn't just greened Jet, I would have done for that first post. Unions were needed at the time of their formation, as the working man was receiving a real raw deal. Now, they're just a way of holding companies, or the public, to ransom.
I too 'refused' to join a union. When I was nursing I joined the RCN, rather than one of the others, specifically because the RCN wouldn't strike. There was an ambulance strike while I was nursing and I was the only one of my colleagues that was against it.
As far as I'm concerned, there are enough choices in Western countries today, as far as work goes. If you don't like your wage packet or benefits package, go find another job.
Me too. Well said Jetty. Unions and their supporters (especially the French ones who post on TDOriginally Posted by Jet Gorgon
) are self serving scum with no interest in the longevity of the companies, only with what they can screw out of them and to qualify their existence.
I heard on CNN/BBC the union of French train engineers had until recently maintained working hours based on the 1900s scenario where engineers were shovelling coal and breathing soot over their 20-year career and then eligible for retirement.
Current engineers sit in Laz-Z-Boys driving electric trains in air conditioned cabins, yet could still secure a pension after 20. Those guys like unions.
Sarkozy will set them straight.
Oh, I'm well behind NR's statement. And glad that Marmers agrees, too. I see unions sucking companies dry. The people who had the creativity and incentive to make their companies are being milked by fekin unions. So, Branson and Gates et al are billionaires. They should be. Visionaries, IMO.
A union leader came to one nightclub I waitressed at to get us to join the restaurant union. We told her to FO. Join the union and they demand you take a break every x hours, etc. Fek off; if it's busy, I'm gonna work and make money. Isn't that what work is about? I'm here to work, not to follow some fekin moron union rules. They helped to destroy the US auto industry and did the same to Canada's forestry biz. FO
I would green you but I can't, so I'll send you a pair of soiled Calvin Kleins instead.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

First off let me just say that I am not going to debate the union thing here that is not what I took exception to. Never been party to a union and never had a need to. That is due directly to the work that the unions have done in the past and continue to do, without their threat of organization and infiltration the corporate sector would slip back to the middle ages in short order..Originally Posted by Marmite the dog
Having said that my reply to the above quote is in the form of a question.
Do you think that this same principle doesn't apply to the company??? That it's only a 1 way street?? Do they not USE their employees until they no longer need them and then discard you on a whim? Especially if they could do it before you come up to your pension years...
If your answer is "no" then you can attribute that result to a union in some sense... If it is "yes" than you aren't being sensible or pragmatic in your point of view..

Unions are bulltweet. Most of the workers are a bunch of lazy feks, who just sign on to get benefits and do nothing. I go to work, I fekin work and all of the places I worked know that and compensated me for it. And stilll do. If I know we'll be busy, I'll be there at whatever time and work until it's done. Not punch in and out at certain hours. FO Unions suck.
