Taking responsibility for a child is one thing, KW. Converting to Islam is something different. They take their religion seriously. I wouldn't take that step unless I were absolutely sure (about converting, not about marrying)

if KW does convert to Islam I think he should be detained in MKP without trial for an indefinite period of time, for security reasons.
