Used to be I could fly perth to Bangkok for about $750 $900 now it's like $2000 forces me to use budget airlines
I'm travelling with wife and 2 kids the difference is about $4000 on my own I would likely pony up for the real airline.

You'd need to be living very well not to care about $4,000 when you have kids. Perth to Bangkok isn't a long flight so a cheapie airline isn't such a pain in the ass.
