I'm actually astounded at how well she runs.

I'm actually astounded that she runs!

Better sort out the brake situation.

    I suppose.

But first better get her dressed and see if the lights n indicators work.

For another hundred he'd probably have sorted the brakes too. They are quite important to get right.

Getting the farings back on is a bit trickier than expected.

I'll make a note of what screws go where and which pieces go on in which order next time.

    So now.

None of the front lights or indicators work.

the only thing that works on the dash is the high beams light which is on all of the time no matter what is done with the switches.

The back lights and brake lights work as normal.

Starts via starter button first time, so battery seems okay.

    Probably/possibly fuses?

    Any other ideas?

    Cheers chaps/chapettes.

But hey, she runs, she's clean, there was a mouse nest in her this time last week FFS.

Ol' Matey comes out and we have a good ol' chat about life, the area, motorbikes. Really nice down-to-Earth chatty guy, possibly of a Tomcat persuasion. There's nothing wrong with it.

You only need this if you are going to sell it for profit? Otherwise it is just chump change. You could probably have bought a runner for 10,000.

Hahaha. Well you did say you wanted to learn? Check the holes. Some will have actual threads for stepped bolts , some just distorted clips for self tapping screws.

Actually, just to see how unbelievably cheap it is to do something like this. To get an old scooter that was abandoned for 6 months because it wasn't working, and then sat unused and was taken over by mice nesting inside it.

I use finance trackers for every part of my prop-delv business and guess it spills over into the rest of me life sometimes.

    Tools + oil: 614.
    Omo: 20
    Spark plug: 80
    Carb clean: 150
Air filter and gasket set: 200
    Today was what...

440+100 for tube, tire and fitting.

Plus I met the lad that's gonna help me do an NSR150SP in the future.

Sort the back break lever situation + indicators and it's actually done and rides perfectly.*

Still want to swap in brand new parts for some of the older ones though.

    This shiz gets addictive.

*And the entire dash+speedo that's completely dead bar the backlight.

Why not get Somchai to look at the half-revving problem ? He fixes stuff like this every day and knows this individual model of bike, whereas we are just taking stabs in the dark.

He’s not. No one talks like that. And you’re naive to think either is remotely true.

She struggles to start from the starter button when cold, no matter how much I whisper sweet nothings into her intake box and gently caress her nape..

The battery power is strong, and will strongly chug along, but she won't fully turn over after not running for half a day or so.

The kick starter will start her. After that, the starter button will start her again.

Is there a reason for this? For the starter button not starting her if she hasn't been running in say, 12 hours or so?

    Cheers.

Don't forget to factor in several days of lost earnings while you were doing this 'restoration'.

... oh, on second thoughts maybe not.
