    Next is the tyre situation.

My guess is..... go to Thaiwatsadu or MegaHome or someplace and buy a tyre iron?
With that I should be able to pry off the current one?

Then buy a new tyre and that should be able to slip on with a bit of tyre-iron jiggling?

Not sure how the valve works in tubeless tyre situations, but will research it.

Once there's an inflated tyre on the back we're on easy street. Can hop on and see how well and how fast she rides.

Any tips/advice on doing this DIY appreciated, cheers chaps/chapettes.

I'd just get Somchai to change the tyre... really. You'll hurt yerself. They're awkward bloody things. A bicycle...yes. Anything larger...no.

LOL, then why did you pay to have your "carb" cleaned by someone who knows what they're doing? How much do you think he'll charge to change a tire?

Changing tyres is a proper Ballache without the correct tools and machinery.

The mechanic will do it in minutes, whereas it will take you hours and you'll probably injure yourself.

Have you given any thought to the new DIY paint job yet?

Nothing. It will be free unless you buy the tyre in one place and ask another place to fit it. Most, if not all, places selling tyres will fit them for you for free. I've certainly never been charged extra in Thailand for fitting tyres I've bought either for a motorbike or a car.

The bonus is that if they cock it up (nip the inner tube) and your tyre is flat by the time you get home, they will replace it for free. Fuck it up yurself, and you will have to pay for another inner-tube yourself. But maybe yours won't have inner-tubes.

the plan today is to get her dressed, load her up and take her to Somchai to.....

Put on a new back tyre.

    And while there.

change the oil and oil filter.
    attach the main stand

Then I'll try to ride her back, probably tomorrow.

I've her fully warmed up, grab the front brake fully and give her WOT (wide open throttle.)

She seems to only rev around half way. She seems to get half way up the rev range and just sit there, no matter how long I pull the throttle back fully.

Any ideas about what could cause this?

    Cheers chaps/chappettes.

This has been a fascinating insight into you, yourself, Ed. I recall one or two people having said you were probably Irish, but I hadn't expected quite that accent or intonation, begorrah. Yer a foine broth of a lad, saints be praised.

Why not get Somchai to look at the half-revving problem ? He fixes stuff like this every day and knows this individual model of bike, whereas we are just taking stabs in the dark.

So I gets out her clothes, give them an Omo'ing, get ready to dress her, load her up and strap her down, when I remember seeing a lad on the way to the main road working on some bikes before, looking like's restoring them to sell.

So off I head to say hello and see if he can change the tyre with me.

    No problemo eddo, he sayz.

    Good man.

Off to the well stocked, but staffed by young TWAs that DGAS, motosai parts heaven.

It's a pity that a shop like this employ young lads with shizzy attitudes and complacent work practices, seemingly in competition with their boys to see who can do the shizziest work with the laziest attitude, instead of guys that actually care about their work.

    Picked up a tube n tyre. 350 + 90 bahtzo.

    goodz to go

So put-put Lil Pinkie along while I jog next to her, down to me new boy's place.

    The state of her.

But hey, she runs, she's clean, there was a mouse nest in her this time last week FFS.

Ol' Matey comes out and we have a good ol' chat about life, the area, motorbikes. Really nice down-to-Earth chatty guy, possibly of a Tomcat persuasion. There's nothing wrong with it.

The area I've seen him doing some resto work while passing by before.

Me new matey says he'll have her done today or tomorrow and takes me Line. Then before saying goodbye said that his work area is out the back, not here at the front, and asks if I want to see it.

Sure thing buddy, I'm more than happy to have a wee skiz.

Then out in one of his back rooms are 5 or so lil rice-rocket 2-smokers.

I presume that's some kinda shrine, and not just a table with lots of different parts thrown on to it. I've read things wrongly before.

It looks more shrine-esque in real life now that I've seen the pics of it.

Anyway, this is good news for a few reasons.

One, he seems to know what he's doing.
Two, it seems to be his part time hobby not a main source of cash flow, so this shows that he is interested in it and cares about it.

    But thirdly...

I'm enjoying this project so much, that once she's finished there are 2 more I'm considering.

One is an old wooden house on me ranch. I presume it was the original house that the old family was raised in 100 years or so ago. The last generation built this house, and the old wooden house has been left alone as has the land around it.

My original plan after buying the property was to have it taken down and removed, and to start developing the land behind it. But then decided to leave it a while as who the fudge am I to rock up, pull down this old piece of history, full of memories and 'life' etc, and why not keep it, and renovate it in the original style.

    So that one possible project.

The other would be more fun.

    The Honda NSR150SP.

    not the RR, the SP.

Klong Toey will know what I'm rabbiting on about.

The single-sided swingarm will give it away.

2 stroke, 39.5 HP at 10,500RPM and weighs less than one of Mendy's mangoes after 4 days of passport renewal.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=de...el=nsmotorider

Will skim 200kph while being as flickable as a dried snot.

If that wouldn't make me the coolest boy outside the school gates I dunno what will..

Anyway, rebuilding and restoring a Honda NSR150SP with me new 2-stroke building buddy could be the order of the day.

    Back to Lil Pinkie.

will see how she runs on the road once the new tube n tyre are installed.

Oil filter, oil and a top up of fresh gao-haa.

Hopefully get the model number off the green book and order in lots of parts - the condition of that turny round thing behind the big case thing seems to have gotten people's attention.
New radiator as the old one is all dented n shiz
new breaks and possible break pumps etc.
The back break is completely dead, the brake lever is fully loose.
Might need a new clutch if it's not running well
    new fork seals and oil
    transmission oil
don't know if the lights and indicators work yet.

Then comes the painting and decorating. To make her truly one of a kind. And something with some meaning. I'm open to ideas.

You can now start modding it; coloured tyre valves, rainbow effect wheels and exhaust, chromed covers but leave it naked otherwise and you'll be fighting off the 15 YO girls

    I was thinking....

Maybe a swash of lavender... rose... ginger.... white for jasmine and light green for lemongrass.

Or lots of different blobs of colour that only I understand. I could go through the names of the major lovers of me past, the important places that I've gone to, then donate a colour to each one, so each splash of colour is a woman I've loved or a place I've been to. Kind of a colour map of me life that only I can read.

Or Ferrari red with a prancing horse badge on it.

Or just do it in black and blue and stick a TD sticker on it with Fok, Kvnt and Shiz under it.
