Not made here. Manufactured at the Bajaj plant in Maharashtra, India and exported to Triumph facilities in UK, Brazil and Thailand for assembly.

Given the cheapest Triumph, a 660, in Thailand is 319,000 baht I'd guess somewhere 220-240k here.

Bajaj, some Indian outfit, released a 400 using the KTM 373cc single cylinder engine from the KTM 390 Duke and RC390 range, for around 110k baht a year or 2 ago, that you might like, Mike. The Dominator or something like that.

If you're not into Indian rust buckets, I've a Kawa 650 down south and a Kawa 400 up north. Can't really be arsed going up north anytime soon. Was 205k new I think, 194k and it's yours.

Though there is some fungal growth on the crotch area of the seat you may want to de-fungal.

The number one bike, nicknamed The Cardinal, is still owned by Britten Motorcycles of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Two - on display in Te Papa the Museum of New Zealand in Wellington
Three - Roberto Crepaldi in Milan
Four - Jim Hunter in Massachusetts, USA
Five i- Dr Mark Stewart in Michigan, USA
Six - Kevin Grant in Auckland New Zealand and is the only one which is still running and used for track displays (MCN’s Adam Child rode this bike in 2013)
Seven - on display at the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Museum in Alabama, USA
Eight - Michael Canepa in California
Nine - Gary Turner of the Netherlands
Ten - Michael Iannuccilli in Las Vegas, USA

'Disrespectful' museum visitor climbs on $700,000 Te Papa motorcycle exhibit
    May 04 2019

A museum goer who climbed on top of a rare $700,000 motorcycle exhibit at Te Papa has been labelled "disrespectful" and "stupid" by an onlooker and the museum. "She said 'I'm going to hop up on it and get a photo for my Facebook'.".
She then proceeded to climb over the barrier, ignoring the signs warning visitors not to touch the exhibit.
Te Papa spokesperson Kate Camp confirmed the incident and said the pair was spoken to by museum staff, who asked them to respect the museum's rules. "It was dangerous, it was disrespectful and it was bloody stupid," Camp said.
There were no plans to put the motorbike behind glass, and she hoped there would not be any repeats of the incident.

I visited Wellington last year . . . and the bike is now behind glass

I'm not one to quote long posts.

But that is just bike porn heaven.

    What a machine.

    What a homemade machine.

Just imagine the bike world now, if he wasn't taken so early, and was here innovating such machines for the last 30 years. I reckon the all the big manufacturers would be copying what he would have come up with.

Thanks for the 1 - 10 list. Sad to see there is only one in world that is still being used and ran.

Will have to take a look at his review and report some afternoon, cheers.

    An update on earlier post

#3 The CR&S Britten (owner Roberto Crepaldi) was ridden by Stephen Briggs for demonstration laps in New Zealand in February this year at the 49th BEARS Sound of Thunder races at Ruapuna Raceway, Christchurch NZ.

#7 from the USA Barber Motorcycle Museum was ridden at the UK Goodwood event 2018.
Looking at Number 7 of the Britten bikes today here at FOS, it’s still a stunner 25 years later. The whole bike is a genuine work of art, and the greatest epitaph an engineer could ever dream of. It looks modern, innovative, different, and the bike fans are out on mass to have a closer look as the bike returns from its first run up the Goodwood hill.

The V1000 is being Ridden and looked after at FOS by Chuck HuneyCutt from the Barber Motor Museum, who have travelled all the way from Birmingham Alabama to be here this weekend

I don't think the Thailand/India trade pact includes automotive.

    from wiki

In July 2023 Triumph and Bajaj launched their first two motorcycles under partnership Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 which were a scaled down versions of their Speed twin 1200 and Scrambler 1200 respectively these smaller capacity models are powered by fuel-injected euro 5 engines producing almost 40hp and almost 38 nm torque supported by a 6 speed transmission with slip & assist clutch.[20] After the launch the models managed to collect 10,000 bookings in India within 10 days of the launch after which the price were hiked, and production speed was ramped up by Bajaj.[21]

I should imagine the engineering is sound, Triumph wouldn't put their name to it otherwise.

    I do fancy a thumper.

Bajaj use the old KTM 373cc engine.

Now Bajaj and Triumph are working together? :/

Don't tell me this is like some Chinese company buying the MG name and badge, or the Benelli name and badge.

Please don't tell me Triumph are teaming up with Indian company Bajaj and are gonna use the 373cc KTM engines that Bajaj bought, but couldn't sell in their own Dominator 400 series, and instead are gonna have Triumph put them into a Triumph-Bajaj load of crap built at the Bajaj plant in India, using the old 373cc KTM engines they bought, and then put a Triumph sticker on. As if it is actually anything to do with Triumph, other than money for the name and badge.

There'd be some Brits rolling in their graves.

Designer shouldn't be allowed to breed

I haven't seen such a blatant troll since Loo asked why on Earth guys abandon their young son back home to live in Pattaya with a fake-boobed bargirl that demands a monthly salary without naming dil... anyone in particular.

Triumph's 400 range are for school kids, girls and poor folks.

    Go big or go home.

The 660 Trident is a good fit for my Mrs, but why would I want her to come riding with me?

Pillion seats are for when your mate rides his Ducati into the rain.

Or blokes who've put ranting bikes and crashing them behind them on much better roads filled with better drivers than Thailand has to offer. I'm happy cruising with the Mrs on the back, no rush. I'll give you wave when you are loading your wreck in the back of a pick up.

Some people can't handle the power of anything above a small single cylinder. :/

Or if Dill, and his crashed 286cc Honda Rebel, even that.

Saw one of the Iron Man Honda ADV160 versions earlier this month, thought it was an owner do-up but they're Honda Thailand limited editions for this country only, 3000 total.

Maybe not the sales hit they expected, now being offered with a 15,000 baht discount voucher.

Interesting that they are doing a Captain America bike, I would have thought that the tie up with Harley Davidson in one of the movies would have prevented other brands using that branding.
