I heard it just this morning coincidentally enough.

But it was from my actual cousin so doesn't really count.

Just return yourselves to the empire, before you all start commenting on Trump threads and turn into hollowed out versions of CP.

    All will be forgiven.

Happy to be of service. At least your education system is slightly better than the Thai.

Someone actually tried to " high five " me the other month. He seemed momentarily perplexed and then crestfallen when I resisted before asking me somewhat hesitatingly why I declined to engage in the gesture. I decided to spare his feelings, " because it is a fucking stupid and utterly inappropriate and wankerish thing for a mature English man to do " was my initial reaction, and replied that I was not an American and felt uncomfortable in emulating one.

Frankly, i was really quite embarrassed. It was as if he had tried to give me a peck on the fucking cheek, to be honest.

i would rather engage in the occasional highfive, or even its bastard offspring, the fistbump (sometimes known as the "powerfive" ) with americans, than endure the revolting public displays of intimacy that occur when meeting frenchmen.

I don't like hugging strangers.. what happened in NZ since I was away? came back and now everyone is hugging each other... gives me the creeps...

I don't mind hugging my Nana (one of my favorite things to do, in fact)... but I draw the line at hugging my brother's gf's - it's awkward...

I know I'm going to get spanked for my view.. but hey, just goes to show I ain't a vanilla, opinion-less bigot, as accused... ei ei...

Fuck hugging... I never got a hug from my Father (EVER)... mum only recently started to hug me (and no, I don't have BO, or leprosy)..

I always enjoyed watching the muslim students at Uni greeting each other with a hug.

Then again I have always been tactile. Agree that high fives are inappropriate for Brits. Just like calling some chap bro is.

On the subject of the English language as spoken in the colonies, it is a bastardisation of the original nations of occupation. French, Dutch, German and English. At least they had the sense to use English as the basis for future communications.

The bane of my fooking life. Seems everyone I meet is a southern poove, only too happy to introduce himself then tell me his net worth immediately, and in a voice loud enough for anyone else to hear.
Yesterday was an exception, I was surrounded by Jocks.
