I don't mind hugging my Nana (one of my favorite things to do, in fact)... but I draw the line at hugging my brother's gf's - it's awkward...
I know I'm going to get spanked for my view.. but hey, just goes to show I ain't a vanilla, opinion-less bigot, as accused... ei ei...
Fuck hugging... I never got a hug from my Father (EVER)... mum only recently started to hug me (and no, I don't have BO, or leprosy)..
I always enjoyed watching the muslim students at Uni greeting each other with a hug.
Then again I have always been tactile. Agree that high fives are inappropriate for Brits. Just like calling some chap bro is.
On the subject of the English language as spoken in the colonies, it is a bastardisation of the original nations of occupation. French, Dutch, German and English. At least they had the sense to use English as the basis for future communications.
you forgot the nausea-inducing Londonimmigrantese "bruv" [shudder]
The bane of my fooking life. Seems everyone I meet is a southern poove, only too happy to introduce himself then tell me his net worth immediately, and in a voice loud enough for anyone else to hear.Quote:
