I've been told by a Burmese friend that they do use naing gan kyaw suu, but say "foreigner" because it's cooler to drop English words in a sentence.

@simon43 - when the hotel staff talked abt me, I heard 'foringga', with a hard G sound. But maybe it was a dialectical pronunciation, or I misheard. I'll bow to your superior knowledge, since you're the resident teacher in Myanmar. And you're wearing the skirt!

I've know a Khasian called Pynroi, they speak a Cambodian-related language but in roman letters. I've never heard that word being used by a Khasian - they mostly seem to speak English, in a rather chutney-flavoured accent.
(They know what a "khazi" is, so I steer clear of that word for 'em )

@drbob - thank you for the reminder abt "lordosis". When I made that post abt it, I was on a phone, like I am now. When I post my pic threads, I use my laptop but most of the time now, I just use my phone. I remembered Looper's thread and the flack he received. But I couldn't remember the exact term and didn't bother to look it up for that single post. It's not that I felt the need to let others google it or what. Re: my or your age, that's debatable, but rest assured that I won't refer to you as uncle again. Sorry for that. I assumed you were of the same vintage as most posters here. We haven't had many interactions here, but from what I've seen of your posts, most are sensible and

Re: my presence on TD, I came here initially to ask for info re: a certain border crossing in Thailand, which I couldn't find in blogs. I was planning a backpacking trip then, and I needed the info. Now I am still here mainly for the travel threads, but also for the news &a bit of banter. I may nor be a rich traveler, but I see the world through my eyes, and with my budget. There are other Filipina travelers. I got my inspirations frm Nina of justwandering.org and Thepinaysolobackpacker. Maybe you haven't come across Asian female backpackers, but we do exist! Anyway, I'll end here and though you may or may not be a grouch, I'll wish you a very Merry Christmas!
