Yeah, just read about this. Secretly glad to be fair though - Turkey is pretty overrated IMO, and far too pricey. At least now I have a valid justification for serving up an Xmas joint of beef.Originally Posted by Norton

Pretty much a 50/50 split between dining in and dining out. Weekends are mostly out
Ok. Seriously. The missus cooks, 100%. I do like cooking, but just no longer have the time for it. Evenings are 50/50 thai and "farang". She does a mean plate of chips, which can go with fish, eggs (egg and chips is kind of a comfort food), a steak etc. She cooks great spaghetti with various sauces, learnt how to make (farang) soups, does a pretty goo (indian) curry, one of my faves, great chilli ( however that is spelled).
I try to alternate evening meals (farang/thai) as i eat thai every lunchtime.
I have posted before on my krapow gai index, maybe worth repeating. My missus can cook a bloody awesome krapow gai. Can. When she is in a good mood, i get the awesome krapow. Spicy, well sauced, beautiful silky fried egg on top of fragrant rice. When she is in a shit mood i get shreds of dry burnt chicken with a hard, rubber egg. 100% correlation. So this features on the menu fairly often so i can judge what is going on. I know an argument is finished when the awesome krapow hits the table, and conversely i know that something is in the wind when the rubber egg hits the plate...
It is a life saving "tell". Plus, i do like krapow gai.
Could do. There is a big peacock round the corner. Noisey bastard. Wonder how he would taste.Originally Posted by thaimeme

I know it is pretty uncouth for a newbie to plug a friend's business, but if anyone in the BKK area misses UK style cooking then check out this site.
Ann's Frozen Food » Menu
My Irish mate and his Thai wife set up a frozen food business a couple of years ago, and I can honestly recommend their food (I would say that anyway, but in this case it is actually true. But then I would say that also, but...)
I've not tried the Chinese food, but their UK style Indian curries are great, as are the cottage/shepherds/fish pies and their stews. Large portions, great taste and reasonable prices.
If you eat at pubs/bars around Sukhumvit, the chances are you are already eating their food.
He sure doesn't bother to clean up afterwards. Has one filthy kitchen.Originally Posted by NZdick1983
According to this page, they come from Khon Kaen. Anyone know any more about turkey being farmed in KK?

Dill, when you're home for Christmas you will be surprised at how expensive turkeys are there.
Last night's dinner - roast chicken drumsticks, roast potatoes/carrots/pumpkin/onion, stuffing balls, mashed potato, boiled broccoli/sprouts/cauliflower/sugar peas and lashings of gravy.
^ and ^^ I would be very happy tucking into that. Good stuff.
About 50/50.
Though that's me. She's 100/0. She only eats her own Thai food. Probably because I don't use tomato ketchup in my cooking and Alphabetty Spaghetti isn't sold here.
I'm happy with that.![]()
This was breakfast. It is the missus' birthday today, so yesterday treated her. Croissants, yoghurt, strawberries and cherries. Then poached egg, smoked salmon on bread (don't have a toaster!!!) tea, coffee and juice.
