    I think they are strong. One reason I chose this one. Very heavy cast iron. One griddle and one grill, each at over 3 kilos of iron. Cant see them going bad.

    My old BBQ which is near identical but 4 burner.

    The cast iron plates warped and never really held the heat.

    I replaced them with some 10mm Armour plate, they stayed flat and held the heat real well !!
