    Brilliant.
Damn. It must be very frustrating. But to be fair, if they bend the rules for one, they may bend the rules for others and you end up with an office that is as consistent as a Thai government department, ie it all depends on who you get on the day and what mood they're in.
There is something to be said for strict enforcement and you can use the rules back on them if they don't. My wife was refused a visa for her first trip to NZ and it appeared that the decision was somewhat on a whim, and they were at pains to point out with the refusal that the decision was final and that we could apply again if we pay again. I spent days pouring over the NZI website and Immigration rules and finally got the decision reversed simply by quoting various rules and insisting they be followed.

At least you've got someone on your case doing as much as the rules will allow.....she didn't HAVE to call the MOC to request urgency, but did so and appears to be wanting to help. This gives hope.
I still have faith in human nature, and I hope to high heaven the MOC people see the situation and act appropriately.

All the very best. You'll both get there. Stay strong.

I went to the stand up show at the Spotmans last night. 3-4 people trying very hard and an Irish fella who was very good but I've completely forgotten is name.
Good atmosphere and a friendly crowd.

    Well here we go;

    Good morning Joy (& Geoff,)

Notification of the grant of a VISITOR (Class FA) VISITOR (Subclass 600)
    visa

I'm pleased to confirm that your visa has been granted - the health
assessment was reviewed and cleared by the Medical Officer early this
    morning.

Please find attached your visa grant notice. The visa itself is recorded in
our system electronically, so you do not need anything in your passport to
travel. If you wish, you may print the visa grant notice and carry it with
you but it is not necessary. You do not need to visit VFS for anything
    further.

If you have any questions please let me know, i will look out for your
    emails.

Congratulations! And well done to LT. On the initial reading of your OP, I honestly didn't think you had a chance.

And I think a shout out to LT for being a generally all round top bloke and always ready to lend a hand.
    Onya LT.

I've found in any dealings I've had with the Aussie government they've been very good and reasonable. Glad to see they could expedite the application.

Many thanks again to all of you.
You'd be surprised how much it helps having a bit of morale support.

Of course LT and his splendid mate K were brilliant and I don't really know where we'd have got to without Ks quiet confident input. Invaluable.

But, just having a cheery post of support make a difference when you sit in your hotel box convinced it's all going down the pan.

    We thank you all.

I think we just hope we can reciprocate down the track.

Mustn't forget a big thank you to dear old Terry57 for his career advice.
