In the spirit of the game googling is poor form, so off the top of my head I would have said Krakatoa, Vesuvius, ...and I think Mt St Helens (but not the eruption a couple of decades ago). From what you've posted, I must be wrong, lol.

Lake Toba in Sumatra was the biggest by far but maybe not experienced by humankind. Or if it was they did have the opportunity to record it!
