The trouble is that the UK is going the same way - looking at America is like looking at the future through a crystal ball.

I have never found that cnut to be very funny

I am going to be in Aust next week for a little while and I am not looking forward to being able to instinctively comprehend the inane drivel

I am happy in places where I need to concentrate to understand what people are saying and I can let the dross just pass me by

I'm over Carlin. I'd be pissed if I paid to attend a stand up comedy show and ended up at one of his whingefests.

The "owners" George speaks about (please no names here) were surely very happy when he passed away, weren't they?

Fitting in is easy. Just leave your brain at the door. Remember that fishin', footy and four-wheel-drives are god and king and she'll be right cobber. Just leave off the arty poof talk about music, theatre, paintings etc etc if you don't want a smack in the mouth.
Finesse your browneye performance and you'll get a favourable reception.

I like Carlin and he's right. But he is a product of his environment, so you get the comedians, and ultimately, the politicians that you deserve.
Not a dig at the US because the UK and the western society in general are either there, or getting there.

I was just thinking about all those who complain about home grown politics. If you look back through the last 3 or 4 Presidents or western leaders, not much has changed, anywhere. We get what we deserve, in life and in politics. Does it make much difference? Not really.

US or Australian politics doesn't really affect me, and nowadays neither does the UK. I get annoyed with dumfucks like the gent, who are just scared of change and how it might affect their pension. Go fuck yourselves. Too many self interested cnuts around.

You probably just find the self-interest of those to whom you are politically aligned less striking.

Pro-BREXIT MPs are utterly self interested, lead by one of the most self interested PMs of all time.

    Coincidence?

Any of the (some 50) Presidents has changed anything on the system (or would had been able to)...

It was quite clear that my remarks were aimed at remainers. Politics and politicians are unlikely to change, so addressing my comments to them, and you, would be rhetoric.

Your reading comprehension skills are abysmal.

Oh, and before your utterly predictable response...the green I sent you wasn't supposed to be a red.

While Carlin was always a "love or hate" comedian some of his rants were hard reality for many to accept. The clip Bsnub posted is pretty damn accurate of the current state of affairs.

Amazing all the beauty the country has to offer and yet the majority of Americans see little but do spend copious amounts of time in malls shopping. It has grown to be all about excessive consumerism and over consumption of food.

For all the faults here, I am glad to be here and not in the US any longer.

I loved the Class Clown LP as a kid. Some good laughs in that material. I must say that the USA is still a great place to live if you can afford it. Sure it has shopping malls, what place doesn't. At least we try to keep the place clean. Every week the the recycler guys come to get the paper and plastics. I trust they are not taking it to a land fill though I'm sure some of it will end up there at least we are trying. Some places don't and that is truly messed up.

I'm under the opinion that US expats leave the US for Thailand or the Philippines simply because they feel they cant retire here comfortably and maintain the standard of living they may have had while working. Add that to the fact that some folks don't like what they do for work and running looks all that more appealing. Just my opinion, don't mean to rattle anyone's tree.

Sure there are many dumb Americans no doubt about that but there are many smart ones as well. Take a look at Bill Gates and the philanthropic works that he does through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. They are giving money away to advance science in the health care field and I'm impressed with that. There are many others doing good works and I'm not talking about only rich people. I'm talking average folk that donate their time. Yes time, the thing that limits us to our own existence, to do charitable works.

Sometimes I wonder about about the op. What drives one to post something like this. Is he trying to suck up to all the seppo haters? Does he really need a "green?" Is he from some other funked up country and he finds himself in Seattle just scraping by? Does he too wish to be a sexpat? I don't know but wish him the best of luck whatever his situation.

PS, America love it or leave it! When and if I do I hope it's for all the right reasons.

    Cheers, the fish.

You really do need to try harder. Language is quite simple, but somehow you seem to mangle it very badly. My post has very little to do with brexit, just simple observation about politics sorry state in general.

Try to read my posts as they stand, instead of applying your inevitable bias. It might help your focus a bit.

    Howdy Fish.

US expats leave for a myriad of reasons, not that all of them cannot afford to retire in the states. Albeit many do and it can be a much better situation for them than their current one where ever they lived before. That said many do exit. Some do it for medical reasons, others because they simply got bored living in America, Some do it for fun (why not right). The point I am trying to make is not all exited the US to be sexpats, drunks, to meet women or ran because they couldn't hack it in the US. Many come here because they can make a ton of money with incredibly good perks and freedom (I know a couple dozen and there are lots more). Imagine moving abroad for a company that pays all your living expenses directly so you are not taxed? They pay for your back and forth to work commute by hiring a service? They offer you 3 round trip visits to the US? They do all your tax equalization for you?, pay all your VISA needs. If you do a bang up job you get a big fat tax free bonus?. I'd say that is a pretty good reason to become an expat.

I think people post for various reasons. Some sure its all about Repo, others its for a wind up, others its "drunk posting" , Some its to just communicate with other members. Threads like this will definitely wind a few people up and spur some debates. Obviously your crack about the "Sexpat" is a dig some how...No?
