some more rumblings about tether - USDT
has been doubts about this stablecoin for over a year , and if it implodes all the cryptos will get hammered
people are talking about DAI as an alternative stablecoin , but I have no info on it - research it yourself if you are looking to shift from tether
back in august i posted a link to a wsj article that queried whether or not tether had the cash to back up their tokens....IIRC, they didn't come out and call it fraud, but they had their suspicions.
i don't know if anyone here is holding USDT, but i'd consider dumping it ASAP before it's too late.
bitfinex exchange is also involved - I would not leave coins there
several stories to ponder here - https://medium.com/@bitfinexed
If you bought $1000 worth of XRP in January it would now be worth $79.
If you bought $1000 worth of Bud Light in January, drank all the beer, and traded in the cans for a nickel deposit, you would have $79.

the pump in BTC today seems to be only on the exchanges with BTC/USDT pairs which may be people dumping tether
no shortage of stupid people in the world who went for the bitcoins dream
If tether tanks, btc and the tribe will swoon and take years if ever to recover. Approaching ten years and too many grubby fingers in this unregulated pie.
The Innosilicon D9 with 2.5 times higher hash rate and 2.5 times higher power consumption than the Obelisk DCR1 wins over DCR1 since they are both similarly priced but none of them are profitable now when 1 DCR = $40.
A more interesting miner is the Antminer DR3 which consumes 3 times the power of a DCR1 but delivers a 7 times higher hash rate. It is cheap , around $700 which is half price of the two mentioned above.
If you are really minted then you can buy the Whatsminer DCS for $4800 and get a hash rate 40 times higher than DCR1.
I didn't colo my DCR1, it is running here in home but I will probably stop it when it has mined for a month (ie when I have mined 1 DCR), I could use the money I pay for electricity and buy one DCR each month instead.
Won't help much that I soon will be able to add a 3rd hash board in the box, the added electricity cost will eat up the additional income.
What is needed for DCR1 to become profitable is a higher coin price..
Obelisk will compensate the delay - not likely to be much - and after batch 5 has shipped will offer SC1 boards for sale which can be put in place of the DCR1 boards and with a firmware upgrade mine the SC fork which may be a way to ROI
you can follow all this on the Obelisk discord - let me know if you need a link
jesus christ, clueless punters
Yes, converting the DCR1 to an SC1 is prolly what I will do if there is no competition when those boards are available.
They've not started to ship batch 2 yet so there is lot of time for competition to catch up on the forked algo...
I ordered the DR3 today, $1000 with psu and freight included.
Will be here in two weeks time, I'll run it on the luxor pool which I also use for the DCR1.
Thanks but that's not needed, I'm already there and reading.
Anyone into ARB? Couple of friends entered at 40-50 and talked me in at 75-80 bt early Oct, now playing at 200.
Butterbutt, help!
ETH token, trading 3 months, opened at around 120 bt, quickly dropped to 40ish then spiked from early this month, lots of enticing keywords but imo doesn't look like a professional website. Not into the active arb trading, wouldn't know where to begin and wouldn't pay the $500 they want for the privilege, but more than satisfied with current % gains and happy to hodl a while longer. You would understand it better than I ever could, internal exchange + listed on CoinMarketCap, CoinExchange and TokenJar, so if that's why it spurted I expect it'll drop just as fast when the big holders unload. Circulation only 4.x million, max supply unknown.

My only experience with active arbing is through a mate that's been doing sports about a year, dead easy once you get into the rhythm and fascinating to watch knowing that every pair of bets is a guaranteed winner and also the exact return with either outcome.

I think ETH is going to crap out big time - it just bogs down under load
trying to be everyhting off the bat is always going to be a cluster
Must say I'm getting to like ARB, twice topped up, working well, reinvesting avg daily profit 0.7%, now waiting for reality to kick in and wipe me out.
it seems as though oyster pearl PRL has crashed out
lead dev triggered a clause in its contract , created 3 mill tokens , dumped them on Kucoin and transferred the BTC and ETH out
ERC20 tokens are just contracts written on the etherium blockchain - granted some of them have migrated to their own main nets , but I am still dubious of them
and so the fluffer does not need to ask
I held the equivalent number of PRL as he has brain cells

Not a crypto and no clue what this brilliant new payment concept that's going to take the world by storm is about, but I was invited by a mate, signed up via a junk account, invited more mates and already earned nearly 20k free. For now it's pre-sale (not selling) hoping to give away 80% of the 2 trillion circulation then sell the rest, I think. Nothing ventured, nowt to lose.
Wish I had that mindset when they offered a free BTC about 7-8 years ago just for signing up, instead of deleting when google said it was worth $0.0xx.
More into ARB, >50% since 20th Oct + daily avg 0.7% reinvested.
