    guess who uses bitcoin?

the 12 russians indicted for hacking the democrats.

eventually regular people might use these coins, but right now it seems like it's only criminals.

Gonna have a flutter on CasinoCoin CSC.

Currently in 322nd position on CMC it's only 0.0005 per coin. It's based on Ripple source code, has a non-scammy looking team behind it and focusing on a niche market.
At that price it's easy to pick up a few hundred thou and hope. Difficult part is getting hold of some, only on 3 lesser known exchanges atm.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

^ Easy enough to foresee, bought yesterday AM.

Can sell now for 10%, but will hold off and sell at either 8% or 20%.

Or 15% if it gets to above and then drops.

Even odds for 8% or 15% sell.

BTC has had a strong 48 hours.

i'm sure those 1,000 people who own 40% of all BTC have nothing to do with it.

What's the story on DCR? I heard something about a divi, like NEO (GAS); nothing on CMC.

if yo uhave enough DCR to buy a ticket you can stake it and it is used in the Proof of Stake part of the bock validation concensus

you earn 1.3 DCR at the moment when your ticket is used - your DCR is locked up until your ticket votes - you don't lose your DCR , nor can it be taken from you as it stays in your wallet

on average a ticket will be used every 28 days , so for now it is an approximately 20 % per year return

How many DCR is enough to 'buy' a ticket? Does that involve actually trading the DCR for the ticket? Once with the ticket, what do you mean by staking it as PoS, etc? Do I need to physically 'buy' or register somewhere, or is it done automatically once there is enough DCR in my wallet, and then is this monthly thing down to me or also automatic?

Reason I ask is that with NEO the GAS builds up regardless, and I can log in and collect it any time with no limit or expiration.

I'm sure there are simple answers though the little I read online has whooshed.

    tia, beginning to like dcr.

you keep your DCR in your wallet on your computer - you are using it as a stake to buy your ticket , but only the proof that you have it is used - it is just locked for the time it takes for your ticket to vote - anywhere between 12 hours and 140 odd days - but average of 28 days

currently you will need about 6500 USD of DCR to buy one ticket - though ticket splitting is coming

most people use a stakepool - which they pay about 2% of the 1.3 DCR reward they recieve when their ticket votes - the stakepool takes care of being online 24 hours a day etc
the wallet is becoming capable - but I have the staakepool email me when my ticket votes as it takes about 24 hours after the vote for your DCR to be unlocked and then I just buy another ticket

Quotes from the recent congressional hearings:

"it seems likely that the use of cash will continue to fall, and it's worth noting that there is a tipping point at which, even if consumers seek to use cash, businesses and banks will not want to deal with it. What happens then?
one possibility is that people will be content to transact primarily in commercial bank deposits, and things will be 'business as usual' with a much smaller cash component to the monetary base. Another possibility is that people will demand direct access to some form of digital, central bank-issued money as a replacement for cash. And a third possibility is that people will turn to privately-issued cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. these options are not mutually-exclusive, nor are they independent."

"If you think about the previous Congressman's question (Mr. Sherman), about 'what is the point of cryptocurrencies,' there are many inefficiencies that lurk in the financial system, including ones that result in crisis, but also if you think about payments, either using your Visa; if you think about cross-border settlement of transactions; those are painfully slow sometimes, and expensive. These technologies, in principle, provide a way of getting around those issues. They, in principle.... could make transactions much easier to verify... to follow through, they could insure finality of settlement of transactions, and bring down the cost. We're not quite there yet, but that's the prospect."

Bitcoin billionaire Lulu Luigi (aka Brock Pierce) wants to transform Puerto Rico into a crypto paradise

    Photo Cedit

Hurricane Maria was one of the worst natural disasters in US history, devastating the island of Puerto Rico and destroying the entire power grid.
Harvard University estimates more than 4,000 people may have lost their lives … a bigger death toll than 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina combined.
Ten months on, thousands are still without power or safe shelter as the annual hurricane season starts again.

Yet while some see catastrophe, others see opportunity.
Cryptocurrency entrepreneurs have been storming in, promising they have the technology to rebuild.

    Transformative technology

At 37, Brock Pierce is a billionaire. And he has chosen storm-ravaged Puerto Rico as his new home.

"Puerto Rico has the possibility now to be put on the map as a hub of innovation," he told Foreign Correspondent.

"And the pleasure of bringing essentially the most innovative industry the world has ever seen to a place that normally
wouldn't have been a hub, that's a wonderful thing if it works."

Mr Pierce was a child actor in the 1990s, starring in Disney films such as The Mighty Ducks.

    Nice bump.

Put some profits into 2 buys yesterday:

Bought BTC to sell at 240k as a loss or 265k for profit.

Just hitting 263,500 now after a nice morning rally. Will change it to 260k selling point or 270k reassessment (265/280) .

Lost on a Rep buy with 1,500 or 1,100 selling points.

something is clearly happening with BTC over the last week or so. don't know how much upside is left but my unsolicited advice to anyone still holding (errr...hodling) is to take this opportunity to cut your losses.

Likely a wee pump n dump.

Bought BTC to sell at 240k as a loss or 265k for profit.
265k, reassessed to 260 sell or 280k reassessment.

Good time for short term buys with a 260k pull point 275 reassessment.
