I am a bit gutted as I tried with coinbase again earlier in the week when dropped below £200 but again same issues and I'd have made a quick 25% which would have been cashed out in full. Shit is too much hassle. Too use to my share trading account where buying and selling shit is a hassle free experience and any issues online and a quick phone call and deal over the phone.

    Yup.

Probably in 1 to 2 years.

Or legging it to a computer when they all crash 70% in 10 seconds.

$1,000,000.00 bitcoin is a very real possibility. Or else John McAfee will have to eat his dick!!
$1m btc at full quota of 21m would match the US national debt if it doesn't move...interesting.

I expect everyone has exhausted their end of year bonuses and the market will cool and consolidate for a bit.

I think we are due for a dip soon, I'm hoping anyway, I wanna buy another BTC this year!

Then watch it make a run for 50k or 100k next year.

Interesting perspective about how BTC and ETH work together.

I am looking at Platinum and noticed I can buy a nice, wholesome Canadian leaf 1oz Platinum coin for less than $1000 US.

Can some of the BTC boollz tell me why should I buy a computer code which can be replicated and hacked instead of one of the rarest metals on the planet?

I swear to moma I am not trolling.... if you think US buck is doomed and you are collecting crypto for the rarity value, then why not buy Platinum for the same reason?

1BTC = 19oz of platinum at the moment.

Watch some of the Andreas Antonopolous talks and you might come to understand what gives Bitcoin value.

Baldwin, Luigi, or any other guru: I have some btc in custody of someone I trust, no problem there and it's not really relevant to this post unless I decide to transfer them to myself at some time.

Also, buying some btc and eth increments on bx.in.th.

How do I transfer them from my bx account offline and away from control of the exchange, which quite frankly I don't trust and also believe it's the safest and sensible thing to do?

I have several empty wallets from various sources, they just seemed to appear over the months and I cannot connect any wallet with any source. As I intend at least for now to hold long term, my ideal is to delete all of those wallets and set up a new one, then transfer the btc and eth bits to it from the exchange as I purchase them.

To avoid very basic questions, what is the best place for an absolute newbie?

Ok so I finally got around to opening up a coinbase account. The amount of info you have to fork over is absurd, but I didn't have any trouble getting verified which apparently is a big problem for a number of others. It was still cumbersome but whatever.

Soooo, I thought I was all set to trade and then (surprise) yet another brick wall in the form of my WEEKLY trading limit being $250 US dollars. So, whatever I go to deposit the stupid 250 dollars and apparently it won't be there for 10 days!

What a joke. They have a wire transfer option which I might give a go tomorrow. Shit is exhausting

Have you thought about buying a physical wallet? If you want your coins totally offline apparently that is the best/easiest way to do it. I think they cost around $50 US or something.

Sorry to both, there's so much info up there that it's easy to get totally lost, QED.

Would a physical wallet be compatible with btc and eth, possibly others later?

And are you saying that until I have a physical wallet my stuff has to stay at the exchange? If so, then wtf are those 'wallets' I have, which are just a string of characters?

Would hurt but fair's fair if btc goes belly up overnight, but worst scenario is to be heisted or done by a runner.

    Yes

No not at all. Just that those wallets are all still online/hot. If you're looking for safety, taking the money off the grid is apparently the way to go.

Apparently this can still happen with software wallets, but yeah that said I think the right one is clearly better than keeping your money on an exchange, never meant to imply otherwise

Right on man, will do! In ten days

UPDATE: When I made the transfer it said it would take 10 days, but the email confirmation says 2-4 days. We shall see...
