Seems to me if you buy a new one and keep it for 8-10 years, or more, you're better off especially if you keep up with the maintenance.
Thats what i have found, especially if you extend the guarantee beyond its 3 years.

Doubt you will be getting 5% interest on your money in a Bank saving account.

    Care to share. ?

As far as cars go, in the real world I would have no problems buying second hand as I can get a reliable condition report done on it.

    Here in Thailand. ??????

have come down recently... but still not too bad.

here are the vanilla banks rates for ya.

*of course, there are slightly more lucrative places to invest... top secret like...

    ^

    I'm seeing rates for 12 months deposit @ 100 K minimum.

    Westpack @ 3.5 % . Safe Bet OK

Credit union @ 4.00 % Probably Ok and I'd give them my money.

Liberty financial @ 4.9 % Fuk that, you'd be taking a risk with that one.

Can i know why people always think about resell price when buying a car? You really have nothing else to do but buying and selling shiiiite ? Buy a nice car and keep it !

Really, someone can expect to show off in a camryor accord that even farmers drive ?

I think you'd be mad to buy 2nd hand say 5 years ago... but 2nd hand prices have come down significantly due repossessions and the government 1st car buyer scheme, as to make 'some' deals worth it IMHO.

Still prefer the Accord over a Camry though... this is almost identical to my old car in LOS. 2008 Accord, 2.4.
This one looks mint, done 30k (don't laugh) it's possible, need to inspect/test drive of course. Looks mint. A hell of a lot more car than a Vios for less money 500k much cheaper yearly premiums on insurance too. Maybe I was lucky with my 2nd hand cars in Thailand, never lost much money on them.. a couple I sold for more than I paid. I guess it depends who you know, not what you know over there..

TD news flash! The fish caught a used Honda Civic for the fish bag. Drove 2000+ miles to watch the Green Bay Packers play the Minnesota Viking from Florida as the Pack is in Green Bay. The Honda was 6k. The trip should be less than that.

The gal I bought the car from was the original owner and took care of it. Nice and clean non smoker!

On that note I knew a friend in my younger , wilder days that allways leased cars, never changed the oil and beat the hell out of them.

    Just a thought.

Do you know where your car has been? Hard to say? Speculation? Whish full thinking? Whats it worth to you to know. Or can you afford a set back on 33rd and jerbertie at 2am.

Have you been to 33rd and jerbertie?

New cars really are in reach of the masses here. Buy a Yaris for 450,000 and keep it for 15 years (a toyota should easily last that long) and you are talking 2,500 baht per month average depreciation. Peanuts.
