Friday night... and on the face of it, it may look like any other of my Friday nights in Isaan.

But tonight is special... the daughter's out, the gardener's out and the wife's out.

I finally have the solitude I crave.

I very rarely get it these days.

To be honest, I do however miss the daughter because she's the only one who knows how to set up Youtube on the telly, so I can watch Sky News while cooking up tonight's repetitive slop!

It's over 36 bladdy degrees in the house at the moment, just unbearable, and as I was lamenting my predicament and lack of cold beer, my wonderful daughter told me there was a tin of Thatcher's in the pool bar fridge, left over from Christmas.

Sadly my favourite cider, Green Goblin has been discontinued, but the glass lives on.



I had company in the pool as well... good company too, although maybe not quite the same 'company' as back in the day.

It's strong but goes down nice, a bit like your company back in the day, if you know what I mean.

It is Saturday night, after all.

I haven't tried Henry Westons and will check it out. Generally I don't want strong ciders or beers, I enjoy the drinking and would prefer a 4% or so. All this 5 or 6% pisses me off. Scrumpy Jack is over 8%!

My dad had some Northern blood and I guess it shows at times.

After my Yogi foot incident I didn't use the pool for a couple of months and I just forgot about it.

I can't believe that this year is nearly a quarter done and I've barely left the house.
