...how do you know it's a lesbian bar?...
...such attitude is bad for business: bartender needs attitude adjustment...

With the weather being so nice and my one night a week drink night I decided Friday Night would be Mai Tai night. So I got out all the booze and mixers and made up some. My wife really likes these and the way I make them they pack a punch. Not pictured was the fresh Pineapple juice my wife was making from a few we bought on the way home from the store. Amazing how good the pineapples here taste and how cheap they are. 5 baht per Pineapple. In the US you were lucky to find one half the size as here sold by Dole for 120 baht.
I'm quite fond of Mt Gay. In NZ if I couldn't get Appleton Estate, Mt Gay was my fall-back rum.
First time I tried it. I sipped some neat and it has a very nice nose and taste. I have some 20 year Plantation XO Barbado's rum but have not opened it yet.

Oh!!! A few months ago I had a few nips of a few Plantation bottles of various vintages. One bottle was apparently only one of a dozen brought to NZ. Sublime. I predict that when you do open it, you'll ration yourself to a couple of nips on special occassions only, and let no bugger try it. :) It really is good rum.

Well after receiving deliver of my Jacuzzi, I dug around in my Liquor Cabinet and pulled out my Milagro Anejo Tequila and enjoyed a few fine sips
Beer Lao?
Vientiane?
No Eatigo?
Coffee...later Beer Lao, so horribly jet lagged this time. Swear it was easier when I was younger so their is a linger of depression about the whole aging process.

Bogon tips for the riverside please mate
Bogon Tips #459 and #460
For nighttime beer and eye candy. Walk out Avalon and cross the street, then take your first left. Will see/hear a large bar with a massive Heineken sign.
For daytime grub, go to the French place down the square. Have a nice lunchtime deal on for a starter and main.
Streetview not updated in Laos, but the beer place is here...https://www.google.com/maps/@16.5728...2!8i6656?hl=en
...and the Dao Savanh restaurant is here...https://www.google.com/maps/place/Th....7466839?hl=en
^ those pics are from Dao Savanh:)
Well worth the 3.5k a night for a wet couple of days up there.

Brewed with precious:)
BREWED WITH PRECIOUS Khao Kai Noy
It's a type of rice. ;)

I don't find the difference over the standard light brew worth it, personally.
The dark brew is infinitely superior to both imo.
Just arrived in Jomtien, a Beer Laos on the beach sounds like a good idea
Thought about booking a place for a week on airbnb at the end of August...but then I remembered what an overpopulated hole it is.
About 7 years ago I stood on the beach side of the road there and looked back at what was...an overbuilt mess. A last resort.
I can understand why you like it Mandy...probably one of the few habitable places left where a deckchair attendant will gobble you for a couple of quid, but YD...why in god's name would you take your wife there?
I can't help thinking this is a symptom of where you're going wrong.
I actually find it to be one of the friendlier places in Thailand tbh; mostly seem to end up hanging with Russians, most of whom do not fit the stereotype that Thai Visa likes to peddle. Good and plentiful places to eat and a chilled out nightlife with the madness of Walking Street if I really want it. Hope to find some Chinese to practice my appalling Mandarin on haha.
I would agree that the condo development is a bit too much and many seem to be sitting empty- you'd be surprised at the amount of sub million baht properties for sale- maybe not such a fantastic investment
I really wouldn't. :D
I drove around the place a couple of times a few years ago looking to invest.
A visit that lead to a good few year's worth of vivid imaginings from frt.
Good point about it looking better in the dark...
Thing is though...this place had a private pool and I reckon it was about 5 minute's walk from the best fish and chips in town according to Headworx...a poster I trust. :)
I may not have listed its attractions in order of importance.
Don't forget that next Friday and Saturday are officially No Alcohol days.
Coconut juice in the evening. A month now on the wagon. Still fancying a beer in the evenings but appreciating the mornings and feeling much healthier. Sleeping better too.
Lao Khao at some deal in Soem Ngam....Long story but man is it good.
cheers extra and now Gilbys Gin, thank fuk off home next week where they sell real beer and the wine is cheap
^If you found it under a bush its ok
