What is the story with the bottle of gin on the table Willy

It looks very suave to be sitting in a public bar with wing-back chairs and your own serve-your-self private bottle of gin on your table

Is it some kind of gentleman's club?

Thought I would mix it up with a contemporary flute after breaking in my coupes

I am trying to take a more disciplined approach to drinking. I let things slip in February and March and only had 2 glasses of wine for the duration but I am trying to make up for it in April.

A pair of King Tigers aka KonigsTiger/Tiger II rolled into the forest this arvo so I shepherded them into the kitchen

They were a late war iteration of the infamous Tiger I which features in many films such as Fury

A true monster weighing in at 70 tonnes, 16 tonnes more than the Tiger I and 15 tonnes more than Russia's largest contemporary tank the T-14 Armata at the rear

It first saw service during the Allied landings at Normandy

Even got a discount for myself and a work pal cos I have a Krungsri credit card. 550b each.

They still had breakfast out when we arrived, so had some rice soup then made myself up some sausage and egg mini nap sliders.

3 gin Bloody Mary’s to get a start on my 5 a day then 3 beers with whisky chasers.

Judge me all you like but I’ve been wide awake since 2am so it’s basically 5pm for me.

    1 Post-beach-run rehydration tapwater

2 Balter XPA for me - brewed locally on the Gold Coast (citrussy hoppy)

3 Stone and Wood Pacific Ale for my Spanish tutor from Chile - brewed 70km down the coast at Byron Bay in NSW (tropical fruits, flowers)

Fancied trying a new single malt today. My sister in law & husband don’t drink so there unsurprisingly there was a lack of whiskey glasses. But I’m sure the taste will be the same. I also have not seen an 8 year old whiskey before, usually they come in 12 or 18 (and sometimes 10).

the verdict, quite ok but if I see the 12 or 18 next time I’ll try that instead. It’s a deep fruity whiskey with notes of peach and chocolate. No hint of smoke or peat.

^That is the same drop that my aussie BBQ lady guest brought as a gift last year. It is a nifty nip, tae be shure.

She gave me the 12 and I am drinking it from my grandad's whisky glass instead of my grandmother's sherry glass tonight to toast the arrival of a very manly guest in the form of a tiny Vietnam war parachute regiment special operations 1/6 scale Davis Knowlton

    What are you drinking today?-20230422_214828-jpg

He is packing a miniature arsenal that I hope the real DK would approve of including the de rigeur M16 + a Mossberg M500 military pump action shotgun plus Davis's favourite personal security operations handgun the 0.45 Colt M1911 and a grenade launcher for good measure

    What are you drinking today?-20230422_202427-jpg

He comes complete with tiny purple and yellow smoke cannisters to let close air support know where to drop more ammo when he runs out

    What are you drinking today?-20230422_202538-jpg

He even comes with a pair of the jungle footprint boots which piqued my interest in the Vietnam war museum on my Vietnam trip

The other big tank of late war German armoured divisions was the Panther

Weighing in at 45 tonnes it was drafted in for Operation Citadel to defend against the advancing Russian hordes in 1943

Backed up on tonights foray by 3 tank destroyers Jagpanzer38 + 2 JagdpanzerIV variants

And a time to look forward to future plans for the defence of Australia with a study of a nuclear submarine.

This is the George Washington which was the first sub to field the famous Polaris missile, which are hidden inside the orange vertical launch tubes in the centre

The control room is under the conning tower and has a tiny little Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington

The mess is down one level and the bunks are under that

The secret 'need-to-know' nuclear western wizardry is all happening in the reactor and engine rooms on the left

And if you get woken in your bunk by a loud bang that is one of the little white torpedoes getting fired from its launch tube on the right at a nasty Chinese Kilo Class
