Not a bad idea, actually.
Elevated O2 levels help immensely, fights depression, increases positive thinking etc.
Also the bike ride or a walk gives you something to do instead of sitting around wondering if you want a cig or not, and so on.
Sort of -it's like standing on the edge of a roof, thinking that stopping smoking is like stepping of the side. Then you do step off, and you find it is all an illusion; you step straight into a room that smell better, you feel better, food and wine taste better, everything is better, and you look back at how you felt standing on the edge of the roof and thinking "Why did I get so worked up by it? It's easy".
It sure aint as easy as you are making out pseudo. I watched this docu about this woman who was hooked on crack cocaine, heroin and fags. She quit them all but said the cigarettes were the hardest to get off.
You will have a spell soon where it will get tough, maybe after a few beers in the company of smokers or a bit of bad news somewhere down the line.
Like that video i put up, there will be many more tests of your steel.
Good luck and stay strong fellas.
you should ask "why was I standing on the edge of the roof"Quote:

I think its important to always keep that in mind.
The psychological trigger situations can pop up and be felt quite strongly even after some years of not smoking.
This is certainly a great thread and I have been keeping tabs on all the experiences and worthwhile advice.
Whilst I have not given up I have cut down from my usual 2 packets a day to one and will continue to try and cut down by staying away from the bars and beer for a while.
That's the first move LT!
I was chain smoking when I was doing two packs a day. I remember laughing about it! Crazy.
Cutting down to one pack wasn't too difficult, dealt to that change in a week, then started rolling my own, which cut my smoking down to 10 cigs or so a day.
Cut that down to 5 -7 a day, then finally hung around 3-5 cigs a day before using my old pipe which I used to smoke as a habit for years. Then cut that down to three or four puffing sessions on the verandah a day, or a few tokes at the pub with my beers, all outdoors by then.
Making your home smoke free is an important step to cutting down. No ashtrays etc indoors.
Cutting down certainly makes it easier to quit, just don't delay the quitting day for too long.
DON'T set a deadline date for quitting, it really creates a lot of tension and failing to meet that can really give you low self esteem, lack of confidence and an increase in smoking as a result.
Good luck mate, all success to you! :)
Good on ya mate. Stick to it. :)
No amount of cigs burning, or folks smoking entices me any more, I feel nothing nor can I get judgemental over others smoking around me. I feel free, light, healthy and strong.
Not only that, I feel very optimistic about my life, planning my next adventure.....:bananaman: :sssh:
and there was I thinking you were an intelligent being!!Quote:

Most bars in Thailand are now smoke free, as they are in the West.
Smoking areas outside are a norm.
Second hand smoke is only an issue in the minds of petty minded wowsers and flagelists.
Smelling or breathing second-hand tobacco is of less danger to me than walking past camp-fires or breathing the exhaust of diesel and petrol exhaust fumes from passing vehicles, largely OWNED BY NON-SMOKERS!!
Think about WHAT ? Whether diesel is bad for you ? And in denial of WHAT fact ?
You've been drinking again, haven't you ?
You're in greater danger of dying a premature death from pulmonary diseases by living in a diesel fume filled city environment than by breathing in second hand tobacco smoke.
Sit outdoors in any traffic laden city area for an hour then go and have a cough and spit and see what you have in your lungs.
But you'd likely deny that anything pollutes your lungs.
maybe, but that doesn't make it not true
be prepared, as they say
How's submaniac doing?
haven't heard from him in a while? You still off them sub?
you will probably find those that do succumb to the temptation keep schtum.
a bit like a gambler who only tells you when he's winning
I am an intelligent being and do enjoy a smoke Doc. :)Quote:
