What an utterly low, snarky, prick of a comment to make.

Another fine example from a [self-professed] expert on child raising.

I think he was referring to a comment by EggSplat about how he was glad he didn't live in the UK any more, so the authorities could not stop him beating his kids, if he wished to do that
    I have reported your post

My old man used to flog the shit out of me when i was a kid, didn't seem to do me any harm, although two ex wives probably beg to differ.
I never raised a hand to my daughter and she has turned out great IMO

    good for you, and her

my two eldest daughters used to get some smacks from me, and I have since apologised to them for that

they have turned out well, as long as you don't count the bar brawls they get into

    joking, honest...

What a wonderful guy, move countries so you CAN beat your kids without regret.

Hold up a minute!! You're lecturing me and now you say that you used to smack your kids and they turned out fine. Hypocrite.

Serious question DAndy not being judgemental, but do I take it you are on your second time round with your Thai misses? What age were your oldest kids when they were no longer under your roof? If that's too personal then fine, not looking to be snide, there is a point to my question.

'You lot' know who they are, those that do not, need not worry about being in the you lot group.

I have identified 5 or 6 so far that seriously need a readjustment.

I would be happy to dish out the same level of punishment to the adult that they deliver to the child on a balanced adjustment upwards to balance for size and age.

    Any takers ?

Gold star for effort mate but I currently do live in the UK. I think you'll find Marmite's comment was in reference to my "play fighting" comment and was sarcastic. A little hard for some to keep up it would seem.

I'm lucky. My kids love sport so a weeks grounding for something serious works a treat. The eldest is the only one to suffer it so far, but as he missed swimming, football training plus one match, cubs, judo, boxing and a weekend camping, it's unlikely to be repeated.
His two younger brothers saw how miserable it made him and all got the message.

Cowards? Yes, I was scared shitless when we jumped into 'Operation Just Cause'.

Cowards? Yes, I did not like being part of 'Operation Desert Storm'. Spent almost a year in Iraq.

The reality is that I have learned from my youth and my current family lifestyle.

You say that I a child abuser. Fuck You!

Pm me for my current location.

And yes I will say this to your face!

No you're not. Sounds you got it right. No luck involved in parenting.

Set the rules. Be consistent in application. Give your kids options. Follow the rules and get what they want. Break the rules and lose what they want. Works better than a swat on the behind but takes time, patience and persistence.

I don't think a swat on the behind is "physical abuse". Might make the spanker feel better but not as effective as reward for following rules and lose of something the kid desires if he doesn't follow the rules.

^^ the internet warrior is giving me his army pedigree now and wants to 'meet up'.

Yawn snorebilly, you'll give yourself an aneurysm.

It was Sharky offering to meet up with you, not I. Red mist clouding your comprehension not to mention your dignity and sense/lack of self worth?

^ Isn't that the wrong way round?? He admitted smacking his kids. Wouldn't that mean all the people very vocally anti smacking will probably explode in a fit of rage one day and batter their kids half to death?

Nice analogy, except it doesn't hold any water, being frightened of homosexual feelings and repelling against them is nothing to do with the understanding that physically hurting children is morally wrong.
