this is the last round of games in the group so all games from group must be played at same time because if the game that kicks off at 5pmGMT finishes the teams who play later maybe only need a draw and play accordingly which is cheating.
Both games everynight will kick off at 1.45am here in Thailand

Besiktas, with its view over the bosphorus must be up there among the most wonderful stadia in the world.

Back to football.... seems a lot of teams are in a position where they can lose the last game and still qualify top in the group. Doesn't seem healthy.....

and what would you propose?

^go back to the goal difference rule so that there is always a chance the other team could claim top spot if they score enough goals. Seriously, it is in the Dutchies interests to lose to Romania.

Well, if the Dutch lose they will still top the table and Romania will go through 2nd. Actually that group wouldn't be affected by goal difference as the Frogs and wops have fucked it up so much.

But, if you look at last night, the Portuguese didn't have to give a shit as even if they lost 10-0 they would still have topped the table. On the old GD system, they would have at least had to play for a draw just in case Turkey came up with a big win. Same with the Spain group as well.

I am in two minds about this as it seems fair that a team who has beaten the 2nd place team should qualify ahead of the team they beat if level on points, yet always being used to the goal difference system I feel to favour that.
Now after just two games Croatia are through and have won the group which I think is wrong because they can now play the last game lose 46-0 with Germany winning 73-0 and still qualify as group winners despite having the same points of Germany and Germany having a superior goal difference of 118 (Croatia currently 1 ahead)
Football is all about scoring goals and the goal difference method rewards teams for goals which leads to exciting football this has now been taken away. The final game in this group would usually be Germany trying to score as many goals as possible to try and top the group now this is not the case they simply need to win to qualify.
Bad decision for me.

Yes, good point, well made. Problem is that even with GD, the Dutch would still have nothing to play for. Are there any rules about fielding weakened teams?

Nothing at all, but not really possible to field very weakend side due to only having squad of 22 which are chosen as best 22 from that country.
From a betting point of view very annoying when teams have nothing to play for as they seem to just play out the games avoiding yellow cards and injury not really bothered about the outcome of the game which is understandable if GD was still being used very few teams would field weakend sides inorder to make sure they qualify top of the table inorder to make the next round fixture against a lesser opponent

The last 20 minutes of Turkey vs. Czech were really awesome.

BBC and ITV are sharing coverage so it alternates.

I prefer the Thai commentary, can't understand a word, in UK they all speak shite, half time pundits are usually dreadful.
on skysports they used to have a feature to turn the commentary off and just have the noise of the stadium, much better.

Tonights games are close ones to call again due to the fact that Holland have already qualified and France V Italy is a up hill battle by both sides.
I am gonna opt for Italy to beat France and Holland with a slightly weakend side to be Romania which is incidently being played at the................
