And today I learned that England have never lost a test with Chris Woakes in the starting 11.

India's session - after losing the toss.

What a great late reward for persistence, though. .

    Two Gents.

    Sachin debuted at 14.

    His dad signed the contract.

It's swinging quite a bit, but England's bowlers haven't totally worked it out yet.

I've had some time to consider a word to summarise today from an England perspective and Ordinary seems to fit the bill. I confess the i have not watched it all as my attention deficit disorder led me to variously extracting naval fluff, popping to the shops twice, spending at least half an hour fighting the urge for a hot dog (not sure where that came from), placing some online orders, answering a load of work emails on a day off and checking out what films are coming up on top of a host of other stuff

Stokes and Bash did OK. The others didn't. Tongue seemed to have little idea where his deliveries were going.

Oh well, the Kiwis got nearly 5 hundred in the first innings a couple of years ago, and England ended up winning comfortably.

Michael Vaughan saying he was stunned by England winning the toss and fielding is peak Michael Vaughan.
He's high as a kite. Which is higher than the last three SpaceX rockets got.

Could be some weather interuption over the next few days but it feels like Eng are going to have to bat to save the match. I can see india getting 550 to 600+ and then comes Bumrah

England bowlers need to have sorted out yesterday's weaknesses.

Gil just hit a Woakes pie for four.

    And another.

Hussain describes his bowling as 'too floaty'.
