Bloody hell, the batsmen are running out of shoe leather,at the Wacca, NZ piled on 624.
Great innings by Tayler at 290, was hoping he would get 300.
then Smith and Voges get a century each, both teams with a never say die attitude.

WTF have they done to our beloved Wacca pitch ??? There are enough benign pitches around the world as it is.

Yes - great knock from Taylor. With him well and truly finding his form again the kiwi top order is looking pretty good

We may have seen the last of Johnson.

Still hasn't found his mojo after a poor ashes series

He finished with 1-157 off 28 overs in New Zealand's first innings of 624 – the sixth time in the past cricketing year and second time in three innings he has conceded more than 100 runs – and was even crunched by the Black Caps' tailenders, leaving him with five wickets at 64 for the series.

This, in comparison with Mitch Starc, who has become the unofficial spearhead, reinforced with 4-119 and a dangerous presence throughout the Caps' first innings.

    Mitchell Johnson announces his retirement

Paceman to retire from all international cricket at the end of the WACA Test

The decision that has been crowding Mitchell Johnson’s thinking over recent months has finally crystallised and he will end his international cricket career at the close of play in Perth later today.
Johnson has confirmed that he will retire from all cricket immediately the second Test against New Zealand comes to a close at the WACA, and will not see out the current series against the Black Caps or the remainder of the Australia summer.
He leaves the game as Australia’s fourth-highest Test wicket taker with a current tally of 311 in his 73rd Tests, but more significantly remembered as a mercurial talent who came to embody a re-born Australian team that swept to a five-nil Ashes triumph two

Job done bring in one of the young bowlers.

Nah he'll be remembered as a bit of a wuss who thought tattoos maketh the man. Mentally as fragile as an egg. When everyone was making him feel good and conditions suited could bowl some devastating spells, but when forced to dig deep found there was nothing there.

Call him weak if you will Bob , but the fact is he it too nicer guy to be a fast bowler. His bowling has never been the same since the Hughes incident .....

But all is good - Starc is matured as leader of the attack now and wee have s few guys waiting for their chance to bowl in tandem with him and he new ball.

You just hate him because he made your team look like a bunch of schoolgirls.

Admit it - he gave you nightmares

Now that's what you call selective memory.

I suppose he can dedicate himself to his true calling now - 'I'm a Celebrity Get me Out Of Here' etc.

I did like the use of the words 'mercurial talent' though (translation: often rubbish)

The fucking idiot that prepared it, didn't leave a stich of grass on it.As Terry Alderman said on the radio "Looks like a one day pitch, not a test wicket"

Plus having problems with the balls (Too soft).

Johnson will no doubt play domestic T20 for a few years yet and will live a good life with his family on Oz now that the pressure of international tours and matches is over. He was most potent during his first couple of years after coming back from injury with new Dennis Lillee installed turbo charges - starting off by displaying such searing pace in the IPL the was a surprise selection in his return series where he was fit and ready - Clarke using him in 4 over spells seemed to work best for him. A couple of years later and he just can't keep up that pace consistently - to call him mentally fragile is just childish and spiteful ( Yes, that means you Bob & cyriille ) but he is by nature not your typical fast bowler ( i.e: total toss pot Anderson ) and as I have mentioned in this thread he never really bowled as fearfully post Hughes tragedy and for some reason just cannot keep up that 150kph pace consistently anymore and as there are several guys now waiting in the ranks who can ( thanks to MJ bringing it back to the sport!! ) then I am just happy he was such a great bowler for the time he was. Cheers Mitch!!

There is more proof with his own admissions than any evidence you have against Cook or Swann....

Can't reap what you sow eh Wally?

Typical Strayan ....one rule for themselves and one for others....

The point is BOb, who fucking cares dopey! He was the best fast bowler we had seen in decades and put fear in to the batsmen - so much so he put some of your players in the mental ward - and also was personally responsible for ending the careers of great plYers like Graeme smith - you just can't give credit where credit is due - typical bladdy whinging Pom
