Usually a batsman in form like Smith is at the moment is worked out by opposition sides and their run ends until they sort out their weakness.Originally Posted by Bobcock
I don't think Smith has a weakness though and his style is so unauthodox I really believe he may be the next best batsman for many years to come.
Oh I'm sure he will be in the side scoring runs for years, but every batsman has a lean patch...... lets all just hope and pray to the Cheese God that it happens over the next 18 months
Fair comment...but WTF is the English team is going to work him out...they can't even work out Ross Taylor.Originally Posted by Loy Toy

There are batsmen....and then there is Bradman, rules for the larger group do not apply to the lone individual mentioned.
It's a simple as that.....

1 Conrad Smith

Usually bullshit.......it's just opinion......
But in this one and only case it is spot on....
1. Bradman

Yes, a few million Indians will tell you otherwise and people try to argue about the standards being lower etc. - but yes, Bradman was a freak.
From all reports there were plenty of quick bowlers back then and playing on uncovered pitches with minimal protection with bats that resembled toothpicks makes him all the more a freak
If it was so easy why didn't anyone else do it?

Bradman practiced using a stump to bounce a golf ball against a cement wall for hours on end.Originally Posted by Bobcock

The fact that his strike rate was so high makes his feats even more amazing. I think he still holds some kind of record for the amount of runs scored in a day - even in today's climate of quick run scoring ( Mind you, England is still a bit behind the times in that department )
Something for the poms to think about

Who had a weakness against short pitched bowling on leg stump...it took a crafty and hard nosed upper class Englishman born in India to work that out...Australia would have been proud of him...but he was on the wrong side.Originally Posted by Wally Dorian Raffles

It is true that they don't like Jardine cos he was a Pom that beat them up......
They even made a TV show about how hard done by they were.....
It's funny that they don't see the 74/75 series in the same light....
Just a bunch of fucking whingers in truth, it's only the self realisation that makes them project.....
