England skipper Alastair Cook: "At tea we still had a lot of runs to get. I didn't expect us to be stood here at 8pm having won the Ashes.

"Shit Bloke was incredible - he bowled some jaffas out there. Before tea we didn't get it right but we regrouped and Shity led that from the front. When he clicks he's got everything - pace, movement and control. When those three click it is hard to face."

A few stats for you to ponder. Australia have now gone eight Tests without a win, England are unbeaten in 12. In terms of overall Ashes history, it now stands at 31 series wins apiece. England are unbeaten in six Tests against the Aussies and have lost only two of the last 14.

Let me be clear Davey, I'm not suggesting he cheated this game, he played extraordinarily well, just when England needed him to.

Shit Bloke won you the Ashes.

He deserved the man of the match today.

Shit I went to bed and thought we were in with a real chance of winning this one.

Yes, I have seen enough to believe we are in with a real chance of winning down under.

I bet your ring piece has been a bit puckered a few times this series mate.

The Aussies just could not drive home the advantages when they had them.

    You're as bad as Bobby.

Just suck it up that England had their underarm bowling incident, it's shameful, it's embarrassing, it's tough to bear.

But you cannot excuse it, you cannot justify it, you cannot compare or mitigate it.

Barbie has joined the likes of Hansie Cronje, Butt, Asif and Amir as a disgraceful cheat, he did good with his haul today, he won you the match. But given it was in the same series as that refusal to walk he cannot hold his head high, he made his bed, now he has to lie in it.

Stuart Fraud is a Shit Bloke.

Some wonderfully over emotional nonsense there Willy.....God Bless You.

Not at all. Completely unemotional about it. Looking at it from an unbiased and logical perspective. You should try it.

But nevermind, it was a cracking game, I'm glad the weather didn't mess it up, and England showed they have what it takes, while the Aussies spectacularly failed.

Ashes unequivocally won by England, this time.

I look forward to the Aussie summer.

He'd be right to still believe that. Australia are a few parts away from being an Ashes winning team. We'll have to play a lot better to win down there. That said to be 3-0 up with only half the team performing in each match is a good feeling, but we gotta improve.

If Australia can keep their bowlers fit that part of the game will look after itself especially with the edition of Fawaz Ahmed to compete with Lyons and young quick sensation Gurinder Sandhu. There is a lot to fear there. The key is their batting. Warner should retain the openers slot for me with Rogers, compliment each other nicely. Three and four is the real problem, Clarke is always happiest at five and Watson provides an all rounder at six. Many don't like Haddin, but I see him as adequate but if there is a better option, get him playing now.

Like I said, not much wrong with that side that a few key pieces and some confidence won't put right.

Last night I went to bed and left the phone on under my pillow so as not to distract the wife. As I closed my eyes I heard them get Warner, but at that time I thought he was second out. I didn't realise that Pakistani born Usman Khawaja had already been sent packing.

Next time I woke up, I heard us get Haddin and realised that things had changed, but frankly after the day I'd had traveling up from the South I just wanted to sleep.

Then I woke and it was nine down so I realised I had to stay awake the few minutes necessary to clean up the last one. No offence, but it's a far weaker tail that T1/2.

Test cricket is amazing, and the pressure batting fourth should never be underestimated, wish I'd been able to see the whole thing.

Been a fun series, enjoyed the chat with KW and WDR, tis a great shame KW can't make the trip over here this weekend, but good luck to you and the wife. Would have been nice to share a few beers and compare notes and what we were really trying to achieve with our posts and be nice to see if you are really that twisted about The Great Man in real life.

The fifth test won't be as much fun, but I think I'll use it to try out some new baiting techniques in time for the Australia leg of this saga. Roll on November.

Oh yeah and Warnie was also linked to the Indian bookmakers with Mark Waugh, now there is a deep down cheat/drug cheat low life if ever there was one. It's a shame this despicable character was also the greatest leggie of all time bar Murali.

Some light reading to remind y'all

True. Watch the tangs, they're a red hot chance this weekend. The missus is now 35 weeks gone, so he really could arrive any day now, disappearing off to pattaya for the weekend really isn't an option.

Will you be in Aus for the Ashes? Now that I've finally got my MCC membership I'll be at the Boxing day test, the first day's usually a sell out but it's possible to get guest tickets for the Members reserve most other days.

Probably the same, he has been many places in the region.

Turns out he is very friendly with my Australian mate who was the guy playing cricket that the family and I came to visit that day Robertson puked over the pitch and you scored that superb quickfire double hundred up at Harrow.

Did I miss anything new? No.

England destroy Australia again and the Aussies moan like the little bitches that they are. Worst sports on the planet.

    RIP Ocker sport.

Meaning that the Aussies had your bloke extremely worried on a number of occasions.

Ian Bell has been the real difference during this series and his consistency and run accumulation has allowed the bowlers to attack with runs on the board.

If Australia had a Bell we could have easily been 3 up at the moment.

I went to bed with 2 wickets left.......... I was about to say 'and praying for a miracle; but I knew it was all over and the scroreboard would read something like it turned out.

Can't say I am that surprised. Once the first few wickets fell, I had a feeling we were going to have another disasterous batting collapse - the same as we have seen this team do so many times in recent times.

What really pisses me off is that Shit Bloke was the man to do the job for England. Barbie has never bowled so well, and I have always thought of him as a pie chucker on top of being a shit bloke who gets special priviliges from his shit bloke daddy.

Some very poor umpiring in this test as well as the whole series. Watson and Haddin could have just have easily been called not out by umpires on a different day, and the flawed DRS system that backs the on field decision sent these guys back to the dressing room.

But not being one to whinge .... congrats to Engerland. Australia managed to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory, and the better team won.

I still think the series down under will be a lot better for us.

    Gawwwd I'm pissed off though

On another note, Shane Twatson almost has a half century of lbw's...... he now has 48.

    25 in Tests
    15 in ODIs
    8 in T20Is

Given his age, you would be surprised if he manages to fix this flaw in his technique.
