Yeah, he probably is, but he's a really good bowler rather than a great bowler...

Aussies got every chance here; let's see how badly they want to win this.

So did you enjoy your time in Oz?

Yeah, he doesn't get far forward the lad, ever... Good ball nonetheless.

Trott and Cook, my two favourites.

More Ghana 30 lead was going to start giving us real problems.

32.... Right on the money for a cracking test match.

If England get 300 here the game is won, but I don't have faith in them getting there.

I'm sitting on a porch 40km the nearest town, 5 km from the nearest paved road.... My wife, her mother, her sister and her sisters kids and the soothing tones of the great Jim Maxwell describing play for all to hear.

Root gone, shite series apart from one innings, he's not an opener, need to sort this, let Compton gain some form, can't be worse. First target 50-1.

Of course I enjoyed my time in Oz. could have stayed but chose not to commit. Adore Sydney.

Been there twice in the last year, see my photo threads, love the place.

    ..........
To be honest, I am an Aussie but I don't really connect with the general population - perhaps that is because I have spent 16-17 years of my life away from there.

Bogans are our version on Brit chavs and American red-necks, but you get those types everywhere.

That said, there are some genuinely lovely people there too.

Australia is bit like France. Great country populated by wankers.

^ that's not what you told me over a few beers marmers. You told me the opposite actually - stories of the fun times you had with aussies in perth, who treated you well.

    Stop telling porkies!

If I recall correctly, I was the one saying the place is full of wankers, and you were saying I was wrong.

Methinks you just like to pull the piss

    Harris gets Cook!!

Harris has been the best bowler in this series. Too bad he has to be kept in cotton wool, which is why he didn't play in the first test.

We're about 20 ahead, so we'll be needing another 150 to 170ish to make the game interesting, and probably 250 to be in the box seat... Not sure...

^ History records show 250 will be hard to chase down on this pitch.

That said, the old records are being broken quite often in recent times.

I reckon the Aussies could easily chase down 200 on this pitch. Probably 250 too. Nobody knows... depends on the weather as well as how the pitch goes; pitch still looks ok to me.

If/when we get 150 in front, anything's possible... Until then, feels like the Aussies game to lose, but batting last???

Batting last is not the best case scenario. But most of our top order failed in the first innings, so they will be trying to make up for that.

Tom Fordyce, BBC chief sports writer at Chester-le-Street

"Since the first Test at Trent Bridge, England have been forced to rebuild every single one of their innings after losing early wickets early on. At Lord's they were 28-3 in the first innings and 30-3 in the second; at Old Trafford 64-3 and 27-3. While the third wicket in the first innings here didn't fall until 149 runs were on the board, the next five went down for just 49 runs. No-one should be surprised that they were three down again in this second innings with less than 50 runs on the board."

Yep, runs on the board are always nice, seems to be especially the case at this ground. Every little partnership, 10 runs here, 20 runs there, valueable.

55 runs ahead with 7 wickets in hand, day 3; either of these 2 get a 50 or a big score and it's not a bad position to be in at all.

We know enough to know win lose or draw they will claim to have dominated and in moral victories they will be 4-0 up.......
