^ yeah, I was thinking that...
I never rated Joseph as a coach, but I'll have to change my view because Japan play good rugby (ok, based on Sir Eddie's template, but the Kiwi lad has still done well...)
Very good WC so far with 4 great games to look forward to - all quarter finals could go either way and will be good competitive matches.
Cycling should be banned!!!
A slightly belated Well Done to Japan. I was expecting Scotland to win but they were blown away in the first half.
Some good games ahead in the Quarter finals.
New Zealand, Wales, South Africa and Australia through to the semis is my pick....
Well, me heart says
Japan
Australia
Ireland
And who cares.
Absolutely . . . now they can rack off back to rugby oblivion with no-one giving them a second thought
Most likely, I'd agree with KW:
Eng v Aus
NZ v Ireland
Wales v France
Japan v South Africa
Preference:
Eng v Aus
NZ v Ireland (If only to get some peace and quiet for once)
Wales v France
Japan v S Africa
All Blacks!
Those Japanese wingers are blindingly fast.
Must be the quickest players in the tournament.
^ over short distances (a bit like Jason Robinson was); I don't think they're particularly fast over 30 metres+ But, if that's the speed you need to score a try...
The semis will be:
Ireland v England
Bokks v Wales
The final will be: England v Wales
The winner will be England
(I say England to beat Ireland & Wales due to our squad depth later on in the tournament.)

Quarters:
Eng v Aus -- Australia
Ire v NZ -- ALL BLACKS!
Wales v France -- France
Japan v Springboks -- Springboks
^ terrible selection... Australia and France, ffs...
^ Which bookie would have bet that Japan would beat both Ireland and Scotland before the tournament started mate?
Any of these teams can win on their day plus you have dubious referring decisions to consider.
My head still says the All Blacks will win the final by 20 points whoever they play but I have been known to be wrong occasionally.![]()
^ give me even money on England then sport![]()
Dilly's suggestions are likely right, but Loy Toy is also right, imho - and that's one of the reasons that makes this WC such a good one. Imagine if Japan v France and Australia against Ireland were the two semi-finals, nobody would be that surprised, all four teams have shown the potential. England, Bokks, New Zealand and Wales are all beatable and have all been recently beaten by at least a couple of the teams in the quarters. To win the next three matches, pretty much any of the teams, including the White Ferns, will need to win three matches, two of which are against teams they've recently been beaten by.
England v Australia has us coming into it having beaten them over and over again, but there's not much between the teams and Australia are due a win.
France v Wales sees a strong Welsh team, one of the favourites, but France have looked really good in parts and can easily turn up and beat Wales (or anyone else).
The White Ferns are the best team in the tournament, but play Ireland who came into the tournament as the No.1 ranked team in the world () and have beaten the White Ferns in two of their last 3 efforts...
Bokks v Japan, well we know what Japan can do there, and they are a much more confident team than 4 yeas ago (so are the Bokks).
I wouldn't be surprised with any team getting through to the semi or final. I wouldn't even be thaaaaaat surprised if the Convicts played a few great games (after 4 years of mostly utter shite...) and made the final.
I'd be surprised if Japan or France won the entire competition. I'd be surprised if the Ireland/White Ferns/England/Australia side of the draw didn't produce the winner.
A very interesting competition.
