Controversial yes, but not a robbery. Ringside observers are not howling too much. They are saying there is a rematch clause. Freaking great fight. It was very close.

    Shocking result
Ward knew he had 'won' when the bell went.

Most of the points he scored were body shots coming off breaking from his dirty wresteling.
A different ref , pehaps any other ref would have controled it better .

Yep. Imo, Ward didn't do enough to take those titles from Kovalev, although he recovered well after the knockdown in the 2nd. Good fight though. Rematch asap.
The undercard decision against Darleys Perez getting robbed with a draw was one of the worst, most bent decisions I've seen in recent boxing history.

It's killing boxing that they allow these dodgy decisions... they are losing loyal supporters to MMA/UFC... which most of you boxing 'purists' would not be happy with. (nor am I).

Good interview with Teddy Atlas who makes a strong point for a Ward victory. It was not a blatant rip off at all. A close fight on all cards. 2 or 3 points difference is how most had it.

^ I concede, that may well be... but still doesn't excuse the many erroneous decisions of late..

2 equally black guys, wearing black shorts, black shoes, red gloves -
    makes it interesting...
Maybe they should have the exact same kit for both sides in football, rugby etc too

Must make it a bit confusing for you when deciding who to bet on though.

Heads up for boxing fans, tomorrow gifted Featherweight Vasyl Lomachenko takes on Nicholas "Axeman" Walters in a prospective mouth-watering fight between the divisions top guys.
An amateur prodigy, Lomachenko has become a Champion within 6 pro fights. He has amazing footwork, technique, and has added power and some eye-catching KO's to his resume in recent outings. In most people's P4P top ten list of fighters.
Walters represents his toughest challenge for a while (other than losing on points to Mexico's Orlando Salido in his 2nd Pro fight), as the Jamaican has a high KO ratio (KO's including Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchinyan), heavy hands and aggressive fighting style.
    Looking forward to this one.

Yeah on paper looks like a mega fight ,for me Lomachenko will take control of the fight after maybe 6 rounds and win on points ,I just hope the judges call it right if it does go the distance !!!.

    Boxer dies after knockout punch

A boxer who suffered a head injury in his first match has died.

Kuba Moczyk, 22, was knocked out in the third round of Saturday's fight at the Tower Complex in Great Yarmouth.

Mr Moczyk, originally from Poland, worked at a chicken factory and lived in the town.

His family said he died on Wednesday night at the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, where he had been in a coma on a life-support machine.

You got that right and then some..

Walters just quit. He was so over-matched and humiliated by Lomachenko who was basically clowning him around this mark, he quit on his stool after the 7th round..

What an anti-climax. Lomachenko will probably have to go up in weight now to get any marquee fights, he is that good.

Here is an example of a boxer who is not too bright. I wish him luck with his newest problems though.

The Nick Blackwell head injury has sadly come back up again after it has been reported that the UK fighter went back to sparring early following his traumatic brain injury early this year.

It is a wonder Dickie Knee has not posted today about the blue tonight in Auckland
tonight between Parker and Ruiz, should be good, both have very fast hands and
both undefeated,so either a first time NZ or Mexican heavyweight champ.
Also a good match on the undercard with the Brisbane school teacher,Jeff Horn up against South african Ali Funeka in the welterweight bout.
I am checking what pub has Fox Sports on for the fight.

^Good call. Ruiz is supposedly a test for Parker, wait and see.
A busy weekend for boxing fans; Anthony Joshua also fights in Manchester tonight, although sounds like another mismatch, or probably a 'tune-up' before he has a meaningful fight maybe against the likes of Parker (should he win).
Also Terence Crawford (boxing's most versatile fighter, imo) takes on John Molina Jr in Omaha US. I expect Crawford to blow out Molina before the middle rounds in this one.
A more intriguing matchup in the Jr Middleweight divn sees Champ Jermall Charlo taking on #1 contender Julian Williams. -Two best guys in the division facing each other, and both with serious punching power. Yeeessssss.

    Anthony Joshua v Eric Molina

I want some xmas beer money
    so £5 at 12 -1 on molina
    Analysis:

ok molina looks like a 45 year old nightclub bouncer - hes 34.

but joshua is no great shakes either
    he looks like a bodybuider.

    27 and still fighting bums?
0nly 41 rounds in 17 fights = not much experience

    verdict:
fight to go to the late rounds and joshua to get comically gassed out

me to collect £65 on Sunday afternoon

^I'd be surprised if Eric the doorman lasts more than a couple of rounds, tbh.

Still, I wouldn't mind a "Buster Douglas" type upset against Joshua, as he's yet to meet anyone half decent, (and I don't begrudge you a few Christmas bevvies ).

He does look a bit over-muscled, a bit like old Frank Bruno. See if he freezes up when he gets tagged, like Bruno used to do.. Although to be fair, Bruno did fight most all the top guys at his peak, including Tyson twice.

    Cheers, Reddog.

I'm picking Joe to be too much for the Mexican Amigo... although chubby can punch like a train...

    Don't get cocky Joe!

    Joe Cocker heh..

*Josh will thump the other bloke.. Yeah, bodybuilder types don't usually do too well, but Josh is a reasonably skilled boxer, with a gifted athletic physique.
A bit like Clit-KO, his physical attributes 'almost' overshadowed/surpassed by his mediocre boxing ability IMHO.

** If you jokers know the live link to the Parker fight (or Josh's) please kindly post it.... (not a fucking Rick Astly video please Balders!)... barsteward!!

"The 24-year-old believed he was in the best shape of his career and promised to use his increased weight and size alongside his noted jab and hand speed to torment Ruiz.

He did that – just. And so fulfilled his childhood dream and his late grandfather's prophecy, to win a world title.

Parker's quest now will be to go on and unify the top of the sport's glamour division. The WBO belt represents the first rung on a ladder of four to the ultimate glory as the undisputed champion.

The IBF, WBA and WBC wait and there will be genuine concern and caution in those areas as Parker continues to do more than just rattle the ranks. He is a genuine talent at the highest level now and will command respect and some massive paydays as his handlers plot a course forward in 2017.

Parker will take a deserved Christmas break now and have time to reflect on how far he has come in four years as professional and the unique achievement that gives him a special place in New Zealand sporting history.

Ruiz, who had won 29 fights heading into this momentous occasion in front of 10,000 at Vector Arena, suffered the first loss of his career in a brutal and brave display. The 27-year-old returns home empty handed and Mexico, such a proud boxing nation, must still wait for their first heavyweight champion.

Parker extended his unbeaten run to 22 fights and celebrated in style in the ring. For the first time in his career he lifted both hands high – read it as a V for victory or a W for world title. He said he would only extend both arms to the heavens once he had won a world championship and he did exactly that."

Dickie,That was a good blue, bloody close but Parker did the job, now up with the big boys and the big money, good to see a Kiwi boxing champ.
I liked Horn on the undercard taking Funeka apart.he should be heading for the big time now.
