^At the beginning, I thought it was intriguing. But it was soooooooooo slow - like watching paint dry. I eventually gave up.

No worries, glad you're enjoying it.Originally Posted by Pragmatic

I don't have the link to hand right now but there's a torrent for all the series floating around. If you're enjoying S1 you should grab that (if you haven't already).
Seasons 2 & 3 are also very good plus there are a couple of associated movies floating around which whilst not quite as good are still worth a watch.
I downloaded series 1&2 (uncut). The sex scenes are a little close to the bone, excuse the pun, and I can only watch when the kids ain't around. But well worth watching.
Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan 2007
The story recounts the early life of Genghis Khan who was a slave before going on to conquer half the world in 1206.
"The movie is an epic story of a young Genghis Khan and how events in his early life lead him to become a legendary conqueror. The 9-year-old Temüjin is taken on a trip by his father to select a girl as his future wife. He meets Börte, who says she would like to be chosen, which he does. He promises to return after five years to marry her. Temüjin's father is poisoned on the trip, and dies. As a boy Temüjin passes through starvation, humiliations and even slavery, but later with the help of Börte he overcomes all of his childhood hardships to become one of the greatest conquerors the world has ever known"

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
The Battleship Island (Gun-Ham-Do) 2017.
A drama based loosely based on the history of Korean forced labour on Hashima Island coal mine near the end of WWII; when this started, such was the humour, I thought it was going to be a bit like "Life Is Beautiful".
But in fact it soon becomes a brutal and visceral tale of Japanese cruelty and a fight for survival.
7/10.
heard about that one, and saw the trailer, it did seem quite brutal
not watching,
Thelma (2017)
Good copy with good subs on TPB
Supernatural thriller along the lines of 'Carrie', but without the schlock.
Norwegian director Joachim Trier shows some stylish touches.
The tension between Thelma and her parents is well done, and raises this somewhat from its familiar genre.
7/10
"Mongol" was good. Cheers to Ohoh. Green sent.
Watched that one a few times when it came out but have not seen it since 2010.
He conquered many of the women too if he is ancestor to 4% of the men in Asia or something like that.
And he had time to be gay too if I remember the movie correctly.
That is a bloke whose ball-bag demands respect!
Another one that came out around the same time as Mongol, was the BBC's Genghis Khan, the rise of the Mongol empire.
Very well done. (of course, it's the BBC)
it's always sad when the producer and/or director who made the show what it was in the past has left the show.
so far (s3) the characters and writing are the same, but the editing/producing/directing is weak, very weak and the show is trying to copy itself.

^Not quite as good this season, but it's early days yet. Was interesting seeing the androgynous COO get laid.
Just finished watching Collateral, Season 1
first class acting and a good yarn. Very enjoyable.
Took the kids to ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Not bad, they enjoyed it. Kinda traumatic ending though some other kids were literally in tears.
Harrow (TV)
An Aussie series about a quirky forensic pathologist investigating bodies and finding killers. Each episode is a whodunnit but there is also an arc about his estranged daughter, ex-wife and her bumped off hubby.
Actually pretty good, 8 episodes available out of 10 (2 to be broadcast).
7.5/10
Piratebay appears to have sorted out its problems, for anyone still interested.
This, the final, season of "The Americans" has been really good thus far. Dad wimping out, Mom whacking people left and right, and the pious daughter getting into the game. An excellent series; I will be sorry to see it end.
Watched the most recent episode last night, which was the best US TV since Breaking Bad imo.
Just one of the admirable things about it is how since the very first episode onwards Keri Russell has handled the violent scenes quite brilliantly. Despite being a petite female she is completely convincing.
Unlike poor Paige, who continues to be as useful to the storyline as a chocolate teapot.
I gave up on Paige after my hopes of her getting knocked up and an STD from "Pastor" Tim came to naught.
