    New netbook

My internet netbook is about ready for dumping so I will buy another.

    The spec is basically:

    10 inch(ish) screen
At least 1 gig ram but 2 would be nice if I can upgrade
min 250 gig hard - more would be nice (I have a lot of films and music)
    Webcam is a must.
    Bluetooth - whatever either way
    Wifi is a must.
Lightweight and long battery life are serious positives as I will be carrying it about a lot.
The PSU being small would be a bonus. The machine I have at the moment is a problem. It uses a 3 pin mains lead that takes more space than the PSU.

Must not be an ichykoozy or some other lump of crap that no one outside a small village in mainland China had ever heard of until a chain store bought a batch and tried to flog them off.

I mostly want it for web (Including skype), a little coreldraw (but nothing fancy) and an entertainment machine. Playing films, music sort of stuff.
I also need audacity to run. These and a few other low resource programs like PCDJ (A glorified MP3 player).

That limits me to a windows machine.

I have my eyes on an Acer but I'm open to suggestions.
Be happy dudes. It's a lot more fun than crying.

I've got an Asus 1201n which I chose because Asus is supposed to be the most reliable laptop manufacturer...

Slightly bigger than 10 inches at 12.1" and the battery life is only around 3 hours but I love it.

    Windows 7
    HD widescreen
    CPU 330 [at] 1.60GHz (4 CPUs)
    2GB RAM
    Nvidia Ion graphics
wi-fi, bluetooth, decent webcam (cyberlink youcam)
    weighs 1.4kg

It plays videos and music really well and I use it for internet, messaging, ipod & watching tv shows. Cost £400.
and he just stands there, waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him, with LIGHT coming out of his mouth!

My kids have been using Toshiba, which meets those requirements. I think this years has 6 hour battery life, which I thought my kids did. Damn the atom processor is faster for the net on wifi than mine hooked up direct. They love them. No CD function though. Bought them an external one for nothing so never mind. Bought them at a big show at Siriket Center just over a year ago. They stood out then. Loaded with genuine xp.

Acer Aspire One, up to 2GB RAM and 320 GB HDD - lightweight and 10" screen. Easy to find service too if needed.

I've got an Asus Eee 1000 something something.
Great little PC, pretty much the same specs as the OP requires and has a reported 9 hour battery life but i normally get about 7 hours under normal use, it cost about 15,000 about 1 year ago and I think prices have come down a bit since then.

1000 Series are 10.1" Screen the 1200 Series are 12" (seeing the logic?)

Wife has my previous 1002HA and my 18 month old 1008HA has never let me down, its been subjected to some harsh operating environments.

The Lenovo and Samsung have the best reviews and come with the best battery standard.

Asus -I bought a new one in April; soon after had problems with the touchpad going crazy . . . using keyboard and mouse, and cursor all over the screen couldn't get more than a few words typed at a time.
Google and you'll find it is a very common issue with the Elan touchpads they install. Internal speakers are crap.
The touchpads faults aren't uncommon though; previously had same issue with Dell Inspiron - simplest 'fix' is to simply disable it.

Now that I think about it, what is a netbook?
    I've never heard of that.

It's a mini notebook/laptop, ultraportable, used mostly for accessing the net.

    Eh?

I use mine for everything I do on a desktop, but if fits in hand luggage.

Perosnally I'm just waiting for this:
Asus EEE PC 1215N review – power in a compact sleek body

I currently have a 10" Asus eee 1000 and I don't think the extra 2 inches is going to make it any more difficult to travel with. Only 3lbs.

    That sounds good.

The reason I must have small and light is my modes of transport.

Peddle, shank's pony and local mini bus. 10 inch and sub 1kg really is maximum.
