I've been reading the rules and browsing around.

how can i get myself a decent ratio?

most of the torrents i want have like 200 seeders and 3 leechers.

it's similar to the private porn trackers in that respect, but they are less problematic because i download rarely and leave my torrents open for upload for weeks at a time.
I have a ratio of 5. something on puretna.

demonoid was superb for maintaining a high ratio.
easy to get into a torrent at the outset and i had a fine ratio there too, not that demonoid banned you or punished you if you didn't.

does it mean i will have to jump in early on Emmerdale farm episodes that I don't want to watch and let people grab it off me for a few days?

I nearly got banned from The Box, but I'm ok now. I just made sure that everything I had DL'd from them was available still and didn't start any new ones for a while.

^^^Have a look for some free torrents... most of them are crap, but there are a few OK one's....put a tick in Comedy (or whateva) then select "Free" in the drop down box (normally says active) then click on go.

The free torrents don't count as download, but only as upload.

One of my torrents is finally uploading to the 2 leechers that are available.

at 1.4 kBs I might make a 1:1 ratio by Christmas.

^it seems hard at the start, but after a couple of weeks it seems to sort itself out. You can also pass on the names of torrents you are seeding to me or Thetyim or anyone else using the box and we can normally leech at 40-60 kB as we are in the same vicinity. That is if you're seeding half decent programs.
