same amount of time to cook that shit as to boil up some spuds. 5 minutes more you have added the butter, cream, salt pepper and what ever you like and mashed it all. All the while getting that wonderful aroma.![]()

Yeah, I think that was the case. I used the whole tin of coconut cream cos I didn't want to waste any. I think next time less will be better.
That's because there were no peas!
I'm trying to go at least one meal a week without peas to mix things up a bit.
Don't worry, last night it was fish and chips using the first fish caught from my new jetty... and we had loads of peas!

That looks darn good.
A simple supper today, a carrot and coriander soup that I made this morning.

That looks really nice.
^ Porphyritic granite I would say... very nice!
Nice... fuckin nice???!
Sorry, but I'm reminded of a long ago Norwegian girlfriend who had just had her hair done... I said it looked really nice...
Since that rebuke I've always sought a stronger adjective... 'nice' just doesn't seem to do it.
That soup looks really good PAG!
Indeed, I love soup, don't make it often enough. This one was inspired by M'Sahib buying a bunch of fresh coriander, and we always have carrots in the house as we feed them to the dogs as snacks. This particular soup is so simple it doesn't merit a thread on its own. A chunk of butter in a large saucepan, melted, add about a tablespoon of coriander seeds that have been dry roasted in a pan and smashed in a mortar and pestle, a couple of grated garlic cloves, and about a kilo of peeled and chopped carrots. Stir everything together and allow to cook on a low heat for about 10 minutes with a lid on. Then add about a litre of vegetable or chicken stock, bring to the boil and simmer for about 25/30 minutes. Allow to cool for a while, then mash it into a puree (best with a blender), before adding a couple of table spoons of thick cream (I used creme fraiche) and a handful of chopped fresh coriander. Stir, put back on heat, then serve. Sprinkle some of the crushed coriander seeds on top of each bowl, with some fresh coriander, and another spoon of cream/creme fraiche. Great with some good bread.
Lamb shanks, Med style again.
Served resting on a bed of mashed potato!
With courgettes, carrots...
... and peas!
You won't get this in ASQ!

Looks great, especially the colours.
am I allowed to say very nice?
Nah, "fucking brilliant", drawn out long and slow is reserved for a problem. Like running out of petrol in the middle of the birdsville track or getting a flat tire with no spare crossing the Great Victoria desert, or your house burning down in a bushfire.
phaaarkin' brillllllllant.
Indicates slight frustration & resignation.
A proper Aussie would say "that looks alright", or "not so bad"...
A step up from "better than a kick in the cvnt" but a step lower than "that's beaut".
Couldn't you use ' that's nice' in similar situations ?
