^^ ever seen a cock tomcat?
Been a minute, but something to be said for quick 'n easy 'n simple at times:
Funnily enough, I had steak for dinner tonight as well. Will try uploading a pic later.
So . . . no more boiled chook? Just steamed? (asking for a friend's friend's friend named gems)
I notice there's no spuds on his plate, so still in keeping!
A traditional... British curry at the local Indian and a few pints. Just close the thread now because nothing better has been or will be posted.
Just to point out the obvious to the oblivious, in the history of Australia the total amount of shrimp ever thrown onto barbies is zero. They're called Prawns down there, and the chances of going to a barbie where they're thrown onto a hot plate are also zero - or very close to it unless some foreigner who doesn't understand the finer arts of crustacean cookery is on the loose. Cultural lesson #46 is now complete
^Chicken wings, yes.
Prawns, just say no.
Boil the fucking things, preferably in the water they were caught in, then straight into an ice brine for the best results.
Having said that, I did once see what looked to be a decent way to cook Prawns on a BBQ without letting them overcook and dry out, which is the inherent problem. What some clever bloke did was put them on the bbq hot plate and seal them in under wet newspaper. Never tried it, but his results looked good.
Just a matter of timing. Don't leave them on the BBQ for 25 minutes. Usually a couple of minutes (max) each side and they are done. That's like saying you don't like BBQ'd steak because it always ends up well done!
Anyway, I just remembered I had some prawns in the fridge, so felt inspired.
Skinned them and ate them with a dash of sambal (and to fit Miss Junior KW for them, she had them with a pinch of salt.
Says the Kiwi! Grrrrrr!
Warning: Be cautious if you are a fragile pink
