Anybody else here waiting for pictures of Mendy's "Mediterranean" lamb?
:)
I wonder what will set it apart from his usual peas and gravy? Is he gonna put a pair of sunglasses on it? Or does he only save the cosplay for Anna?
:)

This should whet your whistle...
Prep started at 7am this morning.

And on it went!

Can have a chat with the potato while prepping.
^^ why did you put beer in the pot?
and get yourself some proper knives, honestly, they're a game changer in prep work.
My two favorites for veggies, a nakiri ( the big one) and the santoku. Both are sharp enough to shave with and cost less than maybe 5K baht. You just need to hide them from your wife.

The top one I bought from Verasu in Thailand, the bottom one was a Shopee order.
Can't go wrong on a sunny day bbq ing some sort of fish the wife got.Attachment 134630
Cranked up.this contraption my son made in high school.Attachment 134631
I've no idea what kinda fish they were but she said they were $20 for 2
Not all that tasty as far as I'm.concerned but her and her mum enjoyed them
I'll think about it. To be honest I find that that steak knife pretty much covers all of my needs.
Hence why it was on the unit... it had been forgotten at the bottom of the vegetable basket for a long time and I wanted to use it up.
Anyway, eventually the lamb juice was thickened up with stock...

Tomatoed up a bit...

Chopped pepper...

And then a bit of Mediterranean magic!
https://teakdoor.com/attachment.php?...0&d=1779596867
Time to pick some fresh veg!

After a while the lamb was finished up in the convection oven to braise and thicken up.

Everyone loves the smell of braised lamb shank!

A modest portion of peas accompanied the fresh garden veg.

And viola... 'Braised lamb shank Mediterranean style!'

That looks very, very good Mendip! Except for the peas, of course.

I think I will add a new descriptive phrase to the English language lexicon "Anna's Breakfast"
^ That wasn't my finest hour!
However things do work out on occasion.
I keep bags of pre-prepared Cottage Pie/Spaghetti Bolognaise mix in the freezer for emergencies. That Cottage Pie was a disaster but Friday night's Spaghetti Bolognaise was the bollocks and it took just half an hour to finish off!
With grated Cheddar.

Mendy, the lamb and the spag bol look pretty good!
Fucking hell, a pig has just flown past my window!
:)
^^ You should have secured a tin of BLDs parmesan for that authentic touch of Italy
Summer food here today, ruddy sweltering!
A decent plate of grub, shame I bollixed the pic up..

Did you make it or buy it?
I hesitate to call this authentic Mexican food but last night I had a kind of baked chicken burrito kind of thing.
I substituted guacamole and salsa for a chopped rocket and lettuce salad, straight from the veggie patch.

No-one appeared too bothered about my meal's authenticity.

The money shot... a cross-section of the 'burrito'...
It really was good and I have another for lunch today.

Well, you've inspired me.
Have my world famous pork Taco sauce in the fridge, sour cream, and cheese. Nacho chips, and wraps.... If the lettuce is still crunchy or has turned to black liquid will be the deciding factor of dish preparation.
You know, to be called 'an inspirational cook' is a new life achievement for me.
It may surprise you but I'm not professionally trained, I am completely self-taught.
My daughter is coming home this weekend for her Birthday, and this morning I found a ball of frozen pastry in the freezer. I must have put it there some time in the past and forgot about it, but had wrapped it in clingfilm and it is just fine.
Tonight is going to be a big Birthday quiche!
Pics to follow...
^ Happy Birthday Jess.
Looking forward to the party and home baked birthday cake photos:)
Got quite a good deal at Morrisons yesterday on their Steak Saturday deal....1.1kgs of fillet for 20 quid a kilo. Left the other .1 they had for someone else
On my second of 4 now.
