Or roast and fried chicken

Well, Mendip, and you're gonna think this is sacrilege, I'd leave the garden peas off entirely if I was having pretty much any other dish! :)
If I were to choose peas, they'd be with fish and chips and always mushy. Although I do remember that when we were served garden peas at school, they were great for throwing at teachers and any annoying dinner ladies when they walked past. :smileylaughing:
I think I might be in the minority here though!
^ Yeah, I thought so... thanks!
You don't get fat from eating peas and sprouts!
Inspired me to knock out another Cottage Pie today.

Some extra strong mature Cheddar cheese as a topping.

Ready to go.

Show off! :)
That must be the most neatly tramlined mashed potato I've ever seen.
Incidentally, what temperature did you cook that at? Your mashed potato seems to be brown throughout whereas mine started burning on the top while the bottom was still white.
That looks fantastic!!
^ Thanks mate, although to be fair I thought PAG's looked better! :)
Simple Tuesday. Another one that I haven't had for a long time, Macaroni Cheese. Sauce made with a mix of mature Cheddar and Parmesan, with a grated Parmesan top along with some cherry tomatoes which were in the fridge.

Made a couple of French loaves to maybe go along with the pasta.
Ready for the oven.

M'Sahib really enjoyed the Macaroni, so I guess I'll be making it more often in the future.

The bread turned out OK also, just brushed some melted butter on a couple of slices.

The bread looks rather dry and heavy, tbh.
Unlike the usual high standard of your grub, I should add.
Good bread takes an incredible amount of time. More than I can usually be bothered with, I must admit.
Ummm...no.
Actually on the slightly heavy side, but very moist. First time I'd actually made this recipe, unusual in that after the second proving, flatten the dough into a rectangle, then roll it, sealing the seams at the ends. M'Sahib ate two thick slices of it, so it was a win for her.
^ Strange that... my daughter's been asking me for Macaroni Cheese and you may have motivated me to try it. I'm thinking of sticking in a few hard bioled bantam eggs... what do you think?
Last night was leftovers night. I wish that I'd been drinking and then I could have stuck it in the 'Drunk Food' thread, but sadly I was stone cold sober.
Two clean plates though!

Sprouts, yum!
Sounds like my first girlfriend.
But anyway, mac and cheese it was tonight.
It lacked the finesse of PAG's creation...

But mine had eggs in!

If I make it again I'll replace the tomatoes with baked beans.

^^ Burssels sprouts would be weird with macaroni and cheese I reckon.
Btw, where did the 'Brussels' come from? We always just called them 'sprouts' when I was a kid.
I did offer peas and sprouts but the daughter wanted neat m & c. I made her eat 3 tomatoes cos it's healthy! :)
Tonight we revisited an old favourite...
