IN California we got them little carnecarias all over the place in old forgotten strip malls. They're more like a mexican grocery store than butcher shop. Usually, the good ones'll have a few tables or booths full of mexican laborers after work with cans of tecate piled up on the table.

There'll be a counter with tacos al pastor, cabeza, carnitas and carne asada for sale along with a feww other items. usually torilla press is whippin' out them corn tortilla as fast as they are gettin' ate. Them Messicans don't even knwo they're in the US, drinkin and stuffin them selves with tacos, tortilla chips, pickled Jalepenos and the occasional "cocktel de cammarones."

Although I like fried shells, the real mexican taco ain't fried, definitely not some formed and pressed Piece of shit. It's fresh corn tortillas slightly warmed, usually two, wrapped around some savory meat and sauce. Little slice of heaven in run down strip malls or from the taco trucks parked along the backroads...

Mexican food in Minnesota or the like ain't gonna be that good.
Nicest thing about Cal, the diversity of genuine ethnic foods. alot of the left coast has good asian but CA, Arizona, New mexico and Texas are mexican food heaven out side of mexico, coe to think of it that covers dmn near as much territory as mexico!

St Paul though has a lot of Vietnamese and a couple of great vietnamese restaurants. Much like eastern Louisiana.

If I had a choice between a fresh vietnamese spring roll and a taco I'd pick the spring roll.

Man that's be a tough choice... I haven't had a real messican in about 4 - 5 years. Offered a plate full of each, right now? Tacos would win, hands down.

Just placed an order with a friend coming from America for pinto beans, tortillas, tomatillos, habanero sauce, and some good cheese to turn into nacho sauce.

Corn meal is difficult to get here.

Buy the Frozen Corn Tortillas and fry them yourself. They taste better and aren't stale. God knows what they put in those ones in the box to preserve them, you'll end up with cancer and they taste like shit.

They are like the Taco Bell shitty Tacos.

You can get a cheap taco shell maker from texmextogo.com for about $8 USD (plus s&h).Place an order with friends to share the shipping costs.
