Orange parade taste-test for a lovely lady from NSW, who has been popping up on my radar intermittently for the past 2 months and finally decided to do some forest reconnaissance

I had actually run out of BBQ snags but luckily I had some lamb chops in the freezer that I was able to defrost. They were already cooked but I soaked them in some teriyaki to make them BBQ worthy

Chucked on the grill for a few minutes to heat up and pick up some smoky BBQ favour

They were actually more tasty than I was expecting and super tender being pre-cooked. So I will remember that trick.

Getting the cooking out of the way allows for some log-stacking flame-licking ambience-conjuring

She asked to borrow my socks after politely taking her boots off at the entrance but they were too big for her so the heels were up at her ankles

She gave me a very tingly head massage by the fire using just her fingertips. She then asked for the favour to be returned and I obliged, but I decided to put a cushion in my lap to avoid stabbing her in the cheek with my boner, as that might have spoiled the mood.

That was as far as we got before her Kia people-mover turned into a pumpkin as she has work at a hairdresser in the morning.

As a consolation prize she offered to cut my hair when she gets a day off so my money-saving clippers might be getting a rest if I play my cards right.

The great thing an out the BBQ community is that folks don’t let other folks go without Qs just cos they are traveling. Got this loaner for a couple a days.

The BBQing, Grillin, Smoking Mega Thread-img_5154-jpeg

Picked up a half brisket, soaked it overnight in apple cider vinegar.

The BBQing, Grillin, Smoking Mega Thread-img_5152-jpeg

remove from vinegar, pat dry and then add a dry rub.

The BBQing, Grillin, Smoking Mega Thread-img_5151-jpg

and starting the cook at 4:00am

and the astute will have noticed the girlie cup and cofffee. It is 4:00am after all. Will take it slow as this is a 6-8 hour low and slow cook.

The price of everything, mate! Movie tickets yesterday cost me $80+ and then you buy popcorn, drinks and chocolates. Halfway through the missus and my phones blew up. Needed at home because my old man is not well and we had to walk out half way through!

    Anyway, family.

Here’s the brisket at about five hours in.Gonna give it one more hour for that bark to develop before wrapping for the last hour or so.

Aiming for a 6-8 hour cook. This one is for lunch and to be fair I wake at 3:00am each day anyway. The Biscuit Lids want Sushi for dinner, so it’s brisket for lunch.

Kangaroo meat is very lean, so it’s hot and fast not low and slow. Should only be served rare or medium rare. I’ve eaten it before but not cooked it myself. The supermarkets here have it, so not a bad idea. Will get some later and Q it for the ‘door!

If only he had just found himself in a completely different timezone and thus his bodyclock was operating differently, eh.

    Nice looking chunky of meat.

It was 4:00am local time. If I started an 8 hour cook at 8:00pm no one would be eating dinner before 4:00am...
