I have been using clippers for over 30 years. Once every 6 weeks for 30 years is about 300 haircuts at $35 is over $10,000 at today's prices. If you add on the opportunity cost of interest earned at 5% on the savings as they accrue it comes out to about $17,000

That's 104 x £15 a year here in the UK = £1560 pa X 25 years=£39,000 not including interest.

That's just under AUD$81000, an eye watering amount.

Minus the cost of a few sets of cheapo clippers.

I once shaved my head completely in my 20s for a giggle. I used no attachment. Just the clippers against my scalp. I did not know you could get 0.5. I use 3mm as my closest shave for the back of my head and the darkest nethers.

So I consoled myself with a walk round Surfers Paradise where I came upon the bottle shop where 24 years ago in June 2001 I bought a 6 pack to share with Japanese Lady who I had just met.



She was visiting for her friends wedding and staying in the same backpacker hostel, as I was then an interstate visitor from NSW.

We found a quiet spot under the stars on the sand where I got the biggest set of blue balls in my life by being allowed to finger her, but with nowhere to do the deed it was delayed till we got a room the next night. I took a vial of sand from the beach a-la Eddo Cheddo it was so memorable.

I went to visit her in Tokyo 4 months later and took her the vial of sand as a romantic gesture.

I visited her in Tokyo 3 times over the next 10 years and travelled all over Japan with her each time. And she came back to Australia to stay with me for one holiday.

Anyway I took the opportunity tonight of finding the same spot where we sat on the beach 24 years ago and recreated the original ambience by immersing myself in the throbbing pain from tonight's freshly minted blue balls.
