One last time. Even though you can't read. KW advised Mendip to use salt to make his cakes rise. Mendip did and thanked KW a couple of times.

Whilst Mendips cake looks very edible, as he acknowledged it didn't rise very well, whilst i realise old people use recipes from a bygone age, there is no need for baking powder to be in a simple sponge mix, the Eggs do the job very nicely if you follow the recipe.

Tucked in before taking a plated pic with gravy, but here's the leftovers of a roast pork loin and some veg that looked good in the local market this morning.

Some red pork/yellow noodle soup - all made from scratch by the wife. She'd never made red pork before, and it turned out great.

Bowie - I would not call that Rad Na - of which I thought the hallmark is a copious amount of a gluggy gravy?

Looks more like a Pad see ew?

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Plenty of those tasty little black bean things in a rad na too.

    Still looks good, mind.

It all comes down to Thai not really having a standard romanization. I appreciate that there is an official general system but it seems never to have invaded the consciousness of the average Thai. Unlike the Chinese, who adopted pinyin over 50 years ago and teach it in all schools. Not that that solved all the problems, because they they went for a system with diacritics, which are not always readily available on Western keyboards so, for example, the venerable HuangLao ends up with more of a Wade-Giles rendering of his moniker. Sorry, wandering far too far off topic. Unless you were planning on ordering a Cow Pat, or Khoa Pad or something similar for lunch.
